THREE CARMEL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT’S SIGN NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT

Carmel, N.Y. – (11/22/2013) – Senator Greg Ball joined Carmel High School senior, Samantha Fernandez on Thursday afternoon as she officially signed her National Letter of Intent to play softball at Syracuse University next year.

Also pictured is Samantha’s teammates, Brittany Allocca and Jasmine Ennabe who both recently signed their National Letters of Intent to play at Hofstra University and Adelphi University, respectively.

HUDSON VALLEY REPORTER: MAHOPAC, SOMERS FAMILIES HONORED FOR DRUG ABUSE AWARENESS

MAHOPAC, NY-  The Salomone family of Mahopac and the Christiansen family of Somers were honored Tuesday for their work in raising local awareness about drug abuse.

Both families have lost sons to drug overdoses, and teamed up to host a series of community educational forums called Drug Crisis In Our Backyard to promote awareness and share resources and support with families affected by addiction.  The special recognition dinner was sponsored by the National Fraternal Order of Police Stephen P. Driscoll Memorial Lodge and was attended by Sheriff Don Smith and Senator Greg Ball, among others.

Mahopac, N.Y. – (11/22/2013) – Families, friends and fellow veterans packed the Mahopac Falls School auditorium on Thursday evening to honor dozens of local veterans. Senator Greg Ball (R,C,I-Patterson), Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, inducted 27 veterans from throughout Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester into the 3rd Annual 40th Senate District Veterans’ Hall of Fame.

HUDSON VALLEY REPORTER: MONTROSE VA: DOWNSIZING WOULDN’T REDUCE SERVICES

MONTROSE, N.Y. – While five unused buildings at the FDR VA Hospital in Montrose may be torn down, hospital officials say it won’t result in reduced services for veterans.

Sen. Greg Ball (R – Patterson) said he met with hospital officials Wednesday to review plans for the buildings, which a local veterans group recently discovered are scheduled to be razed. Willy Nazario, state commander for the Military Order of the Purple Heart, believes taking down Buildings 8, 9, 10, 11 and 25 will lead to reduced services for veterans.

CORTLANDT, N.Y. — The picks are in for the third annual Veterans Hall of Fame in the 40th state Senate District.

Sen. Greg Ball (R,C,I-Patterson), who serves as chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, asked towns, villages and cities throughout his district to nominate a veteran for the Hall of Fame. Ball recently announced the nominees and is set to honor the 27 selected in the  ceremony at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21at Mahopac Falls School.
