State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) will be co-hosting his annual health fair with Catholic Charities Family Room on Tuesday, April 19th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the upper level of the Riverfront Center, Amsterdam.
"Called the Community Wellness Day, this event has always been successful in delivering information on services that local agencies provide to the public," Senator Farley said. The health fair is geared towards people of all ages and is set during the break week for local schools so families can participate. Those unable to attend can call Senator Farley’s office to obtain brochures and weblinks on health topics.
It’s hard to believe, but it is true. Fifty years after the 1963 Equal Pay Act was signed into law, pay discrimination in the workplace still exists in America.
In June, the Senate unanimously passed legislation to strengthen New York’s laws and ensure that women receive equal pay for equal work. However, action is still needed by the State Assembly on this bill.
