Senator Farley Chats With Corinth Students

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) had the pleasure of meeting Greg Baker’s student government class from Corinth Central School on May 4th when they toured the Capitol. Those students on the tour included Jonathan Rumpf, Erika Spieldenner, Hannah Corlew, Jenny Kelley, Sara Jensen, Markus Messore, Phoebe Wells, Lisa Eggleston, Tyler Ellis, Lillee Parker, Richelle Poisson, and Kevin Cahill. Principal Brian Testani and teacher Jim Dunbar were also a part of the trip.

Visiting With Senator Farley

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) enjoyed chatting with several school groups over the past few weeks when they came to Albany to tour the Capitol and other State buildings. The Senator discussed State government with the students and answered questions about how legislation becomes laws. Students from Roberta DelVecchio’s class at McNulty Academy, Amsterdam, met Senator Farley on April 4th at the Legislative Office Building.

Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) listened to the performance by the Fourth and Fifth Grade Chorus from Dorothy Nolan Elementary School, Saratoga Springs City School District, when they came to the Empire State Plaza Concourse in Albany as part of the New York State School Music Association’s "Music In Our Schools Month" on March 31st. The chorus performed under the direction of Deborah Craig and Mary Rocco.

Sen. Farley Discusses Youth Build Program With Participants

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) had the pleasure of meeting participants of Northeast Parent & Child Society’s Youth Build program on March 16th in Albany. According to Northeast Parent & Child Society’s website, Youth Build is a "12-month program that helps young adults ages 18 to 24 from Schenectady County earn a GED while getting paid to build affordable housing. Participants receive six months of classroom instruction and onsite construction training and six months of job placement and support services." Senator Farley discussed the importance of the Youth Build program with Tabatha Cole, Carlton Thompson, Kevin Phipps, Elise Martin and Rebecca Ilowiecki.

Senator Farley Meets With Highway Superintendents

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) met with local members of the New York State county Highway Superintendents Association on March 9th when they came to Albany to discuss their 2011 Local Roads Matter Advocacy Program. Discussion topics included CHIPS (Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program) funding, establishing a local bridge and culvert initiative, and reforming the Dedicated Highway and Bridge Trust Fund.

Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) had the pleasure of chatting with Shaylia Thomas of Schenectady on March 22nd when he honored her in Albany for being a two-time winner of the Schenectady Boys and Girls Club’s Youth of the Year award. The Senator met her last year when she won the honor for 2010. They discussed her plans for attending Cazenovia College in the fall when he honored her this week for being the 2011 winner.

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) had the pleasure of meeting Orachorn Thongnak Meyer o f Scotia, New York Association for Continuing Community Education’s Student of the Year, on March 9th in Albany. She was nominated by the Washington Irving Education Center. New York Association for Continuing Community Education is a statewide association that provides information and support for professionals serving the needs of lifelong learners.
