Senator Farley Salutes Music

New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), along with the Music Educators' National Conference (MENC) is celebrating March as Music in Schools Month. As part of this celebration, area schools are giving special performances at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. Local schools that are scheduled to perform this month include: Fonda-Fultonville High School Select Chorus, Northville Central School Senior High Band, Van Antwerp Middle School Chamber Strings, and the Dorothy Nolan Elementary School Fourth and Fifth Grade Chorus. State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) met with 4-H delegates from Schenectady County as part of 4-H Capital Days in Albany on March 2nd. Senator Farley Discusses Schenectady Community Action Program's Career Readiness Program

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) met with representatives from the Schenectady Community Action Program's Career Readiness Program (also known as the Displaced Homemaker Program) on Feb. 22nd in Albany. The Career Readiness Program assists individuals to land gainful employment and succeed in the workplace. Career Readiness began in 1978 as the Displaced Homemaker Program and targeted mid-life and older women. In 1995, the services were expanded to eligible men and women of all ages.

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) met with students from Fulton-Montgomery Community College's Upward Bound Program on Feb. 9th in Albany. They were at the Capitol as part of the Trio Leadership Conference and discussed their program with the Senator. The students also attend Amsterdam High School. Included on the trip were Papa Jo Amissah, Ashley Soodol, Ally Hanke, Gabriel Amaya, Kathie LaBarge and Jean Karutis.

Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) was pleased to honor the Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band with a New York State Senate Resolution on Feb. 9th at the State Capitol for the group placing third in the juvenile division of the World Pipe Band Championships, held in Glasgow, Scotland, on Aug. 15, 2009.
