St. Kateri Students Meet Senator Farley

Students from St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Schenectady visited Senator Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) in Albany on March 12th and took a tour of the Capitol. The Acadia-Gowana-Koda Middle School’s Treble Choir participated in New York State School Music Association’s Music in Our School Month by performing at the Concourse, Empire State Plaza, Albany, on March 11th. The group is from the Shenendehowa Central School District and is part of the 49th State Senatorial District represented by State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady).

Senator Farley Participates in Mother Teresa Academy’s Literacy Week

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) had the pleasure of touring Mother Teresa Academy, located in Clifton Park, on March 4th. He also read books to several students as part of the school’s Literacy Week activities. Principal Dr. John G. Metallo, first grade teacher Abigail Mason, and second grade teacher Heather Mound also enjoyed the Senator’s readings. Senator Farley said at least 15 minutes a day of reading to children or encouraging other language activities could make a difference in a lifetime of learning.

Senator Farley Discusses Emergency Preparedness

Senator Farley addresses the Citizen Preparedness Training Program in Schenectady on March 1st. Several years ago, the American Red Cross conducted a presentation at the State Capitol called “Preparing for the Unexpected,” and they asked state legislators to help spread the word about how important it is for families to take certain basic steps to prepare themselves for any type of emergency. Out of that original presentation, Senator Farley created a brochure that offered some basic safety tips and checklists. Library Advocacy Day was Feb. 26th in Albany and as the Chair of the Senate Select Committees on Libraries, State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) met with representatives from around the State, including members of the Central New York Library Association and the Mid York Library System, to discuss legislative initiatives and the concerns librarians have with the proposed Executive Budget for 2014-2015.
