SENATE PASSES BILL TO HONOR FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) announced that he and his colleagues in the New York State Senate recently passed a bill (S.7458) that would ensure the names of firefighters who are killed while performing services in the line of duty be included on the New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

The Fallen Firefighters Memorial recognizes those firefighters from throughout the state who made the ultimate sacrifice for their community. The Memorial hosts an annual ceremony that draws firefighters from throughout New York and serves as an occasion for remembrance and healing.

Senator Farley Salutes Fallen Firefighters

Senator Farley Salutes Fire Fighters

Senator Farley Offers Safety Tips as Part of Fire Prevention Month

October is National Fire Prevention Month and as part of that commemoration, State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) offers safety tips.

"Protecting our loved ones is the responsibility of every parent, neighbor and citizen," Senator Farley said. "That's why it is important to stay informed on fire safety and to take steps to protect yourself and your families."

Senator Farley said it is important that everyone in your family knows to call 911 to report a fire or other emergency. Have your children practice what they would say on the phone in case of a real emergency.

Senator Farley Honors Fallen Firefighters

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) had the honor and privilege to speak at the 2013 Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony in Albany on October 8th. The annual ceremony is held during Fire Prevention Week and honors those who gave their lives in the line of duty. The memorial was first dedicated in 1988 and now holds 2,381 names on the wall.
