Senator Farley Joins New Medicaid Fraud Task Force

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) announces the formation of the new Senate Republican Task Force on Medicaid Fraud.

"Medicaid fraud continues to drive up spending and taxes at both the State and the local levels," Senator Farley said. "Medicaid waste is a critical issue to my constituents and, therefore, I asked to be a member of this task force to help identify solutions to this problem."

SEN. FARLEY SAYS TOUGHER MEDICAID FRAUD EFFORT NEEDED

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) and his fellow members of the Senate Republican Task Force on Medicaid Fraud conducted a public forum today in Albany to investigate what savings can be gained from New York’s overburdened Medicaid system. The task force will explore ways in which the State Legislature can assist counties to improve Medicaid fraud prevention efforts, as well as develop recommendations for improving the State’ Medicaid system.

SEN. FARLEY AND MEDICAID TASK FORCE TARGETS WASTE, FRAUD AND ABUSE

On March 17th, State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) and members of the Senate Republican Conference released the initial report of the Senate Republican Task Force on Medicaid Fraud and Reform, a sweeping set of policy recommendations that will empower localities to boost their own Medicaid fraud efforts, more aggressively combat waste and the overutilization of services, and save taxpayers up to $500 million a year. The report should be discussed as part of this year’ budget negotiations.

Senator Farley Comments on Medicaid at Task Force Press Conference

State Senator Hugh Farley and members of the Senate Republican Task Force on Medicaid Fraud and Reform unveiled a sweeping set of policy recommendations that will empower localities to boost their own Medicaid fraud efforts, more aggressively combat waste and the overutilization of services, and save taxpayers up to $500 million a year. SENATE APPROVES BILL TO STRENGTHEN PROVISION OF MEDICAID LAW

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) announced that he and his colleagues in the State Senate approved legislation (S.3184) on June 20th to ensure appropriate due process protections for providers and recipients of Medicaid who come under the scrutiny of the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG).

The legislation adds to the law which created the OMIG in 2007, to assure fairness and procedural clarity when audits are conducted.

Senator Farley Cosponsors Medicaid Takeover Bill

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) announced today that he has signed on as a cosponsor to legislation that would phase-out the burden of Medicaid costs on real property taxpayers.

Bill S.5889-B would provide for an immediate freeze of local contributions to the cost of Medicaid. It would then phase-out the local contribution over an 8-year period.

"Real relief is needed for struggling families and businesses. This phase-out is a reasonable and realistic way for the State to fully fund the Medicaid program. It will remove the cost of the program from the local real property tax," Senator Farley said.
