Senator Farley Honored for Work With Veterans

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) was honored to receive the First Patriot Award on November 9th at the Saratoga Hilton from Patriot Hills of New York for his ongoing support and dedication to veterans. He received the award during the organization’s Military Ball and Veterans Gala, a night dedicated to the military. Patriot Hills provides support to veterans and their families with issues such as reintegration, job placement and educational opportunities.

SEN. FARLEY CO-SPONSORS BILL FOR STATE CONTRACT SET-ASIDE FOR DISABLED VETERANS

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) announced he and his colleagues in the New York State Senate passed legislation (S6865) on March 24th to facilitate the awarding of state contracts to disabled veterans.

Co-sponsored by Senator Farley, the bill will create a six percent state contract set-aside for service-connected disabled- veteran owned small businesses. The “Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act” will ensure New York State’s service-connected disabled veterans are better able to compete for millions of dollars in state contracts.

Senator Farley Discusses Veterans Legislation

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) had the pleasure of meeting with Tom Rielly of Ballston Spa on March 18th when Mr. Rielly came to the Capitol to discuss the priority issues of the American Legion. He also discussed with Senator Farley the legislation to set aside certain State contracts for disabled veteran owned businesses.

Senator Farley is pleased to report back to Tom and other veterans that he co-sponsored the bill and it passed the Senate on March 24th. The “Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act” is designed to help New York’s Service Disabled Veterans pursue successful new business ventures. A three-way agreement on the bill was announced during the Governor’s Veterans and Military Families Summit held last week in Albany.

SEN. FARLEY REPORTS RESOLUTION COMMEMORATES 70th ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY INVASION

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) reported the New York State Senate honored World War II veterans on June 2nd by adopting a resolution that commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Allied Army invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, a defining day in world history that marked the beginning of the liberation of Europe and the eventual end of World War II; as well as passing a package of legislation to benefit veterans, and men and women in active military duty.

SEN. FARLEY REPORTS SENATE GIVES FINAL PASSAGE TO BILL CREATING A HOMELESS VETERANS ASSISTANCE FUND

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) reported that he and his colleagues in the New York State Senate recently gave final passage to a measure that will create a Homeless Veterans Assistance Fund to support military servicemen and women who need help with housing. The bill (S4760A) allows New Yorkers to contribute to the fund when filing their personal income taxes.
