SEN. FARLEY AND FELLOW REPUBLICANS UNVEIL " PROTECTION AND PROPERTY TAX REBATE ACT" TO PROVIDE NEW YORKERS WITH TAX RELIEF

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady), along with his Senate Republican colleagues, announced on March 10th the " Protection and Property Tax Rebate Act," a major new tax cut initiative that would provide a property tax rebate for middle-class taxpayers. The rebate would reimburse homeowners based on much they pay in property taxes and how much they can afford. The plan also includes a cap on property taxes, along with significant mandate relief to further reduce costs. The comprehensive package would usher in a new era of economic freedom for New York’s taxpayers.

Senator Farley Announces Annual Community Wellness Day Slated for April 9th in Amsterdam

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) and the Catholic Charities Family Resource and Support Center staff are partnering once again to host a free Community and Family Wellness Day on Friday, April 9th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Riverfront Center, Amsterdam. The event will include a variety of activities for all ages.

Senator Farley Reminds Constituents That Feb. 12th Is "Blue Friday"

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady)  welcomed law enforcement officials and staff from WGNA radio station to the Senate today for passage of his resolution recognizing as February 12th to be "Blue Friday" in New York State.

"The first year we started doing this was in 2005, and I worked with radio station WGNA in creating this official State day to salute fallen law enforcement officers, and to support the families of fallen officers," Senator Farley said.

Statement from Senator Farley Concerning the Batchellerville Bridge

The grave situation involving the restriction of the Batchellerville Bridge is disturbing and I have contacted the Governor numerous times about the future of this bridge and the negative effects of both the current alternating one-way traffic and the future possible closure. I am calling for quick action to replace the bridge so this region does not have to go through a situation that citizens of Crown Point are currently facing --- a closed bridge with jobs on the line and potential emergencies becoming fatal due to slow response times.

SEN. FARLEY BLASTS PLAN TO STRIP BUSINESSES OF EMPIRE ZONE BENEFITS

More than 2,000 companies across the State - - including several in State Senator Hugh T. Farley's district - - could retroactively lose their existing Empire Zone benefits under a drastic plan approved by Democrats in the State Budget that is now being implemented by the Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC).

BILL TO FIX CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK PROBLEM CREATED BY ROCKEFELLER REFORMS

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) will be reviewing a bill that was introduced by fellow Republican Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) that would fix a dangerous problem created by the Rockefeller drug law reforms enacted as part of the 2009-10 state budget.

Under the budget measure which takes effect on June 8th, courts may seal the criminal records of certain drug felons when they complete drug court, so there will be no record of their conviction when they apply for employment, Senator Farley reported.
