Senator Farley Comments on Medicaid at Task Force Press Conference

State Senator Hugh Farley and members of the Senate Republican Task Force on Medicaid Fraud and Reform unveiled a sweeping set of policy recommendations that will empower localities to boost their own Medicaid fraud efforts, more aggressively combat waste and the overutilization of services, and save taxpayers up to $500 million a year. Senator Farley Invites Constituents to Community Wellness Day on April 9th in Amsterdam

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) and the Catholic Charities Family Resource and Support Center staff are partnering once again to hose a free Community and Family Wellness Day on Friday, April 9th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Riverfront Center, Amsterdam. On March 17th, State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) and members of the Senate Republican Conference released the initial report of the Senate Republican Task Force on Medicaid Fraud and Reform, a sweeping set of policy recommendations that will empower localities to boost their own Medicaid fraud efforts, more aggressively combat waste and the overutilization of services, and save taxpayers up to $500 million a year. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) meet with residents from Fulton and Montgomery Counties who were representing New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms on March 16th in Albany during the organization's Legislative Day. Many representatives were part of the Saving Grace Baptist Church of Fonda and the Baptist Church of Northville and included Pastor Wade Prime and Reverend Richard Klueg. They discussed with Senator Farley issues that included parental rights.

New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), along with the Music Educators' National Conference (MENC) is celebrating March as Music in Schools Month. As part of this celebration, area schools are giving special performances at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. SEN. FARLEY AND FELLOW REPUBLICANS UNVEIL " PROTECTION AND PROPERTY TAX REBATE ACT" TO PROVIDE NEW YORKERS WITH TAX RELIEF

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady), along with his Senate Republican colleagues, announced on March 10th the " Protection and Property Tax Rebate Act," a major new tax cut initiative that would provide a property tax rebate for middle-class taxpayers. The rebate would reimburse homeowners based on much they pay in property taxes and how much they can afford. The plan also includes a cap on property taxes, along with significant mandate relief to further reduce costs. The comprehensive package would usher in a new era of economic freedom for New York’s taxpayers.

SEN. FARLEY SAYS TOUGHER MEDICAID FRAUD EFFORT NEEDED

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) and his fellow members of the Senate Republican Task Force on Medicaid Fraud conducted a public forum today in Albany to investigate what savings can be gained from New York’s overburdened Medicaid system. The task force will explore ways in which the State Legislature can assist counties to improve Medicaid fraud prevention efforts, as well as develop recommendations for improving the State’ Medicaid system.

SEN. FARLEY AND REPUBLICAN COLLEAGUES UNVEIL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACT OF 2010

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) and fellow Senate Republicans today joined Richmond County District Attorney Dan Donovan in Albany to unveil the Domestic Violence Act of 2010, a comprehensive effort to strengthen the State’ porous and ineffective domestic violence laws.

The initiative would also create a specific crime of domestic abuse in the State penal law and provide law enforcement with greater tools to stamp out domestic violence.
