Senator Hugh T. Farley today called on state Democratic leaders to keep the promise they made to the residents of Canajoharie, who are facing significant tax increases as a result of the relocation of the Beech-Nut baby food manufacturing facility to the Town of Florida, NY. “When the State announced the approximately $100 million deal to relocate the Beech-Nut manufacturing facility to another site within Montgomery County, I stood beside then-Governor Spitzer as he made a commitment that the residents of Canajoharie would not be harmed in any way,” said Senator Hugh T. Farley.

Today's events bring the replacement for the Batchellerville Bridge from dreams to reality. It has been a long and tough road in ensuring this project remains viable and the town officials, emergency response personnel and residents of Edinburg are the ones who need to be congratulated the most for their persistence and determination in getting their community's lifeline replaced.

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) and members of a Senate Republican Task Force on Juvenile Justice reform today held a public forum to investigate growing concerns among community members, youth facility staff and law enforcement officials that newly-implemented policies set forth within New York State’s juvenile justice system have resulted in escalating violence by juvenile offenders that has put New Yorkers in danger.

Senator Hugh T. Farley (R-C-I, Schenectady) today assisted with the dedication of the new six-story $30 million Golub Corporation headquarters on Schenectady’s Nott Street.         

The project was facilitated by the Schenectady Metroplex. In 1998 Senator Farley developed and sponsored the Schenectady Metroplex law, acclaimed as model legislation offering declining industrial cities new life through a unique mix of public and private cooperation.

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C - Schenectady) and fellow members of the Special Legislative Task Force on Reform of the New York State Juvenile Justice System spoke out today against the policies concerning juvenile inmates and are calling for the resignation of Office of Family and Children Services (OCFS) Commissioner Gladys Carrion.

The policy shifts that Carrion is implementing are creating a dangerous environment for staff to work in as well as creating concern within communities on how juvenile criminals will be treated for their personal issues.
