SEN. FARLEY REPORTS SENATE PASSES LEGISLATION TO IMPROVE NEW YORK’S AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) announced that he and his collegues in the New York State Senate recently passed legislation to help keep the state’s agricultural industry booming. Among the seven bills passed, two were given final passage and will be sent to the Governor for consideration. The agricultural industry has a substantial impact on the overall economic health and wellbeing of the state, and the measures passed today will help ensure that this industry will continue to thrive.

SEN. FARLEY REPORTS SENATE PASSES BILLS TO COMBAT HEROIN CRISIS AND ENHANCE TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR OPIOID ABUSE

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) announced that he and his colleagues in the New York State Senate recently passed a package of bills to help decrease heroin deaths and put more drug dealers behind bars for peddling dangerous opioids. The measures are being put forth by the Senate’s Joint Task Force on Heroin and Opioid as part of their continuing examination of the issues created by increased heroin abuse that is causing hundreds of deaths in communities across the state.

Senator Farley Greets Sawyer

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) is pleased to announce the passage of a Senate Resolution honoring the local teen Sawyer Fredericks for representing upstate New York on “The Voice” television show recently.

Sawyer and his mother, Kirsten Fredericks, were on hand during the resolution vote at the Capitol yesterday, as well as Fultonville Mayor Robert Headwell.

Senator Farley Salutes Sawyer

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) is pleased to announce the passage of a Senate Resolution honoring the local teen Sawyer Fredericks for representing upstate New York on “The Voice” television show recently.

“What a terrific young man,” Senator Farley said. “I am pleased that he won the high-profiled contest, but am also proud of him coming back to the region and saying ‘thank you’ to the communities that supported him throughout the process.”

Sixteen-year-old Sawyer performed at Saratoga Performing Arts Center last weekend and was in Fulton County’s Northville on June 4th at local businesses meeting fans.

Sawyer and his mother, Kirsten Fredericks, were on hand during the resolution vote at the Capitol this afternoon.

Senator Farley Salutes Shenendehowa Boys Track Team

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) had the pleasure of spending time with the members of the Shenendehowa High School Boys Track Team on June 8th when they came to the Capitol. He also presented them with a NYS Senate Resolution congratulating the 4x800m Relay Team and Coach Jason Burlingame upon the occasion of capturing the New York State Championship. He also congratulated Shenendehowa senior Shawn Bleichert for capturing the New York State 55-meter Hurdles Championship. Pictured with Senator Farley and the track team is Senator Marchione.

SEN. FARLEY REPORTS SENATE PASSES BILL TO HELP SUPPORT ALZHEIMER’S AND DEMENTIA PATIENTS AND THEIR CAREGIVERS

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) announced that he and his colleagues in the New York State Senate recently passed legislation to help assist and support individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The bill (S3968) would create a dementia and Alzheimer’s disease program database to help coordinate resources available to patients and caregivers.

There are many programs across the state that are designed to assist and support individuals with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Innovative ideas are implemented at the local level, but it can be difficult for groups in other areas of the state to find out about them.

Senator Farley Salutes Flag Day

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) notes that Sunday, June 14th, is Flag Day.

“This day is meant to reflect on the true meaning and history of the American flag. Our forefathers stood up for freedom and liberty, creating the United States of America,” he said. “The flag represents this struggle for independence. Our American flag has long exemplified the spirit of those who lost their lives in battle, as well as those who fought valiantly and survived.”

Senator Farley has paper American Flags available for constituents to obtain for the holiday. For information, call his office at 455-2181. He recently supplied numerous elementary schools with paper flags, and brochures on the history and care of the flag, for their school Flag Day events.
