Senator Farley Joins New Medicaid Fraud Task Force

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) announces the formation of the new Senate Republican Task Force on Medicaid Fraud.

"Medicaid fraud continues to drive up spending and taxes at both the State and the local levels," Senator Farley said. "Medicaid waste is a critical issue to my constituents and, therefore, I asked to be a member of this task force to help identify solutions to this problem."

Senator Farley and Fellow Senate Republicans Call for New Jobs Initiative

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) and fellow members of the Senate Republican Conference announced on January 26th a major new jobs initiative designed to improve New York's business climate, reduce taxes, and create thousands of new jobs for workers across the State.The plan's centerpiece would reward businesses with a three-year tax credit, averaging between $2,500 and $5,000 for every new job created.

The grave situation involving the restriction of the Batchellerville Bridge is disturbing and I have contacted the Governor numerous times about the future of this bridge and the negative effects of both the current alternating one-way traffic and the future possible closure. I am calling for quick action to replace the bridge so this region does not have to go through a situation that citizens of Crown Point are currently facing --- a closed bridge with jobs on the line and potential emergencies becoming fatal due to slow response times.

Senator Farley Criticizes Upcoming DMV Fee Increase

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) criticizes, and warns constituents of, the new Department of Motor Vehicles fee increases that were included in Governor Paterson's budget and are scheduled to start September 1st.

"New York State drivers licenses and registrations will increase by 25 percent, and this will definitely hurt our upstate families who rely on vehicles to get to work, doctor's appointments and other necessary engagements. I strongly urge Governor Paterson to reconsider these hikes when we reconvene later this year to discuss budget issues."

BILL TO FIX CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK PROBLEM CREATED BY ROCKEFELLER REFORMS

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) will be reviewing a bill that was introduced by fellow Republican Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) that would fix a dangerous problem created by the Rockefeller drug law reforms enacted as part of the 2009-10 state budget.

Under the budget measure which takes effect on June 8th, courts may seal the criminal records of certain drug felons when they complete drug court, so there will be no record of their conviction when they apply for employment, Senator Farley reported.

SENATOR FARLEY WARNS MORE NEW TAXES STARTING JUNE 1ST

Starting June 1st, New Yorkers will be paying more for bottled water, paying more for purchases made over the Internet and paying more for auto insurance as a result of tax increases passed by Democrats in the Senate and Assembly as part of the 2009-10 state budget, State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) said.

 

In addition, June 1st tax hikes will hit companies that transport employees in and out of New York and double a state fee on auto insurance policies.

State Senator Hugh T.
