The fair is a family-oriented festival which includes children’s activities, live entertainment, and showcases food, products, and services from local businesses and community organizations. This annual community event brings thousands of people into the heart of New Hyde Park.

SENATOR MARTINS STATEMENT ON MTA’S ATTEMPT TO MAKE MTA PAYROLL TAX PERMANENT AS PART OF PROPOSED CAPITAL PLAN

"The MTA payroll tax must be repealed entirely, not made permanent. I am disappointed in the MTA's including it as a funding mechanism for their capital plan and will continue to oppose this tax that has robbed businesses and taxpayers on Long Island of hundreds of millions of dollars and countless jobs. The MTA needs to go back to the drawing board and stop treating Long Island like its own ATM."

Bullying Prevention Program- Hicksville

     To help combat bullying and raise awareness about this growing problem, Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) and East Coast MMA & Fitness are holding a seminar this Saturday, September 27th from 1:30 pm to 3 pm at East Coast MMA & Fitness (25 Woodbury Road, Hicksville).

     The free program, entitled “Bully-Proof Your Child,” is designed to raise awareness about bullying, discuss the problem, and offer proactive steps to prevent bullying and how to help someone who is being bullied. It is not a martial arts seminar.

Discover Long Island Tourism Program- New Hyde Park

     With fall now upon us, Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) is sponsoring a free “Discover Long Island” Tourism Program to inform residents about the many attractions on Long Island for residents to take advantage of this fall. The program will take place on Tuesday, September 30th at 1 p.m. at the Hillside Library (155 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park).

     Representatives from the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau will offer information about the numerous local attractions and activities residents can take advantage of this fall, including visits to farms, orchards, historic sites which illustrate Long Island’s rich history, children’s attractions, and events.

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) recently attended the 30th annual Great Neck Plaza Auto Show/Street Festival. The fair included family entertainment such as carnival games, live music, and rides, along with a showcase of vintage automobiles.

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola), Legislator Rose Marie Walker, and Legislator Laura Schaefer recently sponsored a hurricane preparedness forum in Hicksville. 

     Members of the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) discussed safety, planning, response, and coordination for natural disasters, in addition to answering questions from residents about hurricane/severe storm preparedness. The seminar explained in detail about weather conditions, sheltering, and making a plan.

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) recently met with members of the Albertson Square Civic Association.

     Senator Martins talked with the members about his efforts to secure state funding for community beautification along Willis Avenue, his fight against Common Core, and a new law he authored with Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel to protect our volunteer firefighters.

SENATOR MARTINS: BILL GIVING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS TAXPAYER FUNDED PUBLIC ASSISTANCE BENEFITS & THE RIGHT TO VOTE AN INSULT TO OVERTAXED NASSAU FAMILIES

     “I strongly oppose the Senate Democrats' proposal to give illegal immigrants New York State citizenship including taxpayer funded public assistance benefits and the right to vote, serve on juries, run for public office, obtain a driver’s license, and hold professional licenses. It is an insult to hardworking, overtaxed families in Nassau County and New York State, but it's in addition to Senate Democrats' plan to provide illegal immigrants with taxpayer funded college tuition assistance, even though 3 out of 4 current New York students do not qualify for that same benefit.

SENATOR MARTINS JOINS VILLAGE OF MANORHAVEN IN REMEMBERING THE VICTIMS AND HEROES OF 9/11

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) joined with the Village of Manorhaven in Port Washington in remembering those who were taken from us on September 11, 2001.

     The ceremony is an annual tradition which the Village sponsors to honor the memory of the September 11th victims and pay tribute to the heroes who helped rescue others from danger. The event was held at Manorhaven Village Hall.
