SENATOR MARTINS INVITES RESIDENTS TO “DISCOVER LONG ISLAND” TOURISM PROGRAM IN NEW HYDE PARK ON SEPTEMBER 30TH

With fall now upon us, Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) is sponsoring a free “Discover Long Island” Tourism Program to inform residents about the many attractions on Long Island for residents to take advantage of this fall. The program will take place on Tuesday, September 30th at 1 p.m. at the Hillside Library (155 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park).

SENATOR MARTINS ATTENDS GREAT NECK PLAZA AUTO SHOW/STREET FESTIVAL

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) recently attended the 30th annual Great Neck Plaza Auto Show/Street Festival. The fair included family entertainment such as carnival games, live music, and rides, along with a showcase of vintage automobiles.

SENATOR MARTINS, LEGISLATOR WALKER, & LEGISLATOR SCHAEFER SPONSOR HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS FORUM IN HICKSVILLE

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola), Legislator Rose Marie Walker, and Legislator Laura Schaefer recently sponsored a hurricane preparedness forum in Hicksville. 

     Members of the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) discussed safety, planning, response, and coordination for natural disasters, in addition to answering questions from residents about hurricane/severe storm preparedness. The seminar explained in detail about weather conditions, sheltering, and making a plan.

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) recently met with members of the Albertson Square Civic Association.

     Senator Martins talked with the members about his efforts to secure state funding for community beautification along Willis Avenue, his fight against Common Core, and a new law he authored with Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel to protect our volunteer firefighters.

SENATOR MARTINS: BILL GIVING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS TAXPAYER FUNDED PUBLIC ASSISTANCE BENEFITS & THE RIGHT TO VOTE AN INSULT TO OVERTAXED NASSAU FAMILIES

     “I strongly oppose the Senate Democrats' proposal to give illegal immigrants New York State citizenship including taxpayer funded public assistance benefits and the right to vote, serve on juries, run for public office, obtain a driver’s license, and hold professional licenses. It is an insult to hardworking, overtaxed families in Nassau County and New York State, but it's in addition to Senate Democrats' plan to provide illegal immigrants with taxpayer funded college tuition assistance, even though 3 out of 4 current New York students do not qualify for that same benefit.

SENATOR MARTINS & COUNTY EXECUTIVE MANGANO TO SPONSOR FREE SENIOR ID CARD PROGRAM IN ROSLYN

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano will be sponsoring a free Senior ID Card Program in Roslyn.

     The program will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on Thursday, October 2nd at the Bryant Library (2 Paper Mill Road, Roslyn). All Nassau County residents ages 60 and over are eligible to participate and receive a free senior ID card. No appointments are necessary.

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) joined with the Village of Manorhaven in Port Washington in remembering those who were taken from us on September 11, 2001.

     The ceremony is an annual tradition which the Village sponsors to honor the memory of the September 11th victims and pay tribute to the heroes who helped rescue others from danger. The event was held at Manorhaven Village Hall.

     The ceremony is an annual tradition which the Village sponsors to honor the memory of the September 11th victims and pay tribute to the heroes who helped rescue others from danger. The event was held in Memorial Park.

SENATOR MARTINS HOLDS COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID AND APPLICATION SEMINAR FOR FAMILIES

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) recently held a college financial aid and application seminar to help parents and students learn about the college application process and the different types of financial aid which may be available to them.  The program was held at the Manhasset Library.

     Representatives from the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC), State University of New York (SUNY), SUNY Old Westbury, Farmingdale State College, Adelphi University, and Nassau Community College provided families tips about applying for college admission, how to apply for financial aid, and the different types of college financial aid and scholarships which are available.

SENATOR MARTINS & COUNTY EXECUTIVE MANGANO HOLD FREE SENIOR ID CARD PROGRAM IN PORT WASHINGTON

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano recently sponsored a free Senior ID Card Program at the Port Washington Library. 

    Over 150 seniors received a free wallet-sized ID card which includes their name, personal information (name, address, phone number, date of birth), and an emergency contact name and phone number which could be useful to emergency responders. Seniors can carry the card in their wallet so that first responders will know who to contact if the senior is in an emergency situation and cannot communicate.

     Senator Jack Martins (R-Mineola, pictured third left), along with Town of North Hempstead Councilman Peter Zuckerman (pictured left center) and Village of East Hills Mayor Michael Koblenz (pictured right center), recently welcomed Dunkin Donuts to its new location on Roslyn Road in Roslyn Heights. 

     Senator Martins, Councilman Zuckerman, and Mayor Koblenz participated in the store’s official grand opening and extended their best wishes to the staff for many years of success.

SENATOR MARTINS & LEGISLATOR NICOLELLO TO SPONSOR BREAST CANCER SCREENING PROGRAM IN NEW HYDE PARK

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) and Legislator Richard Nicolello (R-New Hyde Park) are sponsoring a breast cancer screening program on Tuesday, September 16th from 8:45 am to 12 pm at Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park.

     Appointments are necessary and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. On site nurses and technicians will provide a mammography, a clinical breast examination and instructions for self examination. Patients and their physicians will be notified of the exam results.
