Seward Funding Energizes NETS Expansion

 

PREBLE, 10/16/13 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced a $250,000 state senate grant to help with the relocation and expansion of Northeast Transformer Services (NETS) to the town of Preble.

“Northeast Transformer Services (NETS) is a home-grown success story, melding a winning combination of old-school manufacturing with innovative ‘green’ technology,” said Senator Seward. “I am pleased to say that thanks to the commitment of New York State, and the efforts of local business leaders and elected officials, the company’s future triumphs will take place here in Cortland County, where strong roots already exist.”

Otsego County Economic Development Summit II Set For November 14

ONEONTA, 10/30/13 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced plans for his second economic development summit in Otsego County. 

“In 2012, I brought Otsego County stakeholders together to pinpoint our economic development strengths and weaknesses with an eye toward formulating a unified strategy that would better our county’s future,” said Senator Seward. “The first summit rallied the troops, generated tangible success stories, and refocused everyone’s attention to our true needs. Now it is time to take the next step.”

Otsego County Economic Development Summit II - Full Video

ONEONTA, 11/19/13 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) recently hosted his second economic development summit in Otsego County.  The event was broadcast/webcast live, thanks to SUNY Oneonta, and is now available on-line.

“A diverse group of nearly 200 elected officials, business leaders, and educators attended Otsego County Economic Development Summit II at the Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center,” said Senator Seward.  “Now those who were unable to make it in person can watch this archived version.”

Full-Fledged Tax Reform Needed

ALBANY, 11/19/13 - New York State Senate Republicans today issued a comprehensive report on state taxes that calls for personal income taxes, business taxes, estate taxes and local property taxes to be reformed, simplified and reduced.  The report makes sweeping recommendations for reducing the tax burden on all New Yorkers.  The plan recommends enacting a permanent two-percent state spending cap and dedicating surplus revenues to tax reductions.

Seward Summit Helps Rewrite Otsego County Economic Development Leadership Plan

ONEONTA, 12/05/13 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced conceptual agreement on a blueprint for Otsego County’s economic development leadership with the county IDA set to oversee the renewed effort. 

“After hosting last month’s economic development summit, I have been meeting with key elected officials and business leaders to capitalize on what we learned and take the next step,” said Senator Seward.  “Now, a definite course is established and we are prepared to embark on a new path toward future economic growth and prosperity in Otsego County.”

$15 Million In Job Creation Grants Headed To 51st Senate District

ALBANY, 12/11/13 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced that 47 job creation projects in the 51st senate district will receive critically important state funds totaling more than $14.8 million through the third round of Regional Economic Development Council awards.

Seward Introduces Otsego County's New Economic Development Leadership Team

ONEONTA, 01/10/14 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) and Chairman of the County of Otsego Industrial Development Agency Sharon Oberriter today jointly announced a new leadership team has been established to carry out Otsego County’s economic development strategy with an eye toward greater economic growth.

Alexander “Sandy” Mathes, Jr., past executive director of the Greene County IDA, has been retained as a consultant to lead Otsego County’s effort and will team with Elizabeth Horvath of Cooperstown who will serve as the IDA’s chief operating officer.

Over 2,000 Rules & Regs Warrant Reform

ALBANY, 01/22/14  – The New York State Senate Majority Coalition recently issued a comprehensive report that sheds light on New York State’s notoriously dense regulatory structure and identifies 2,219 specific rules, regulations and practices that put New York’s businesses at a competitive disadvantage.

 

The report is the product of surveys, meetings, community outreach and the input of over 100 business owners, advocacy organizations and individuals that participated in one of nine industry-specific public forums conducted throughout the state.

Mohawk Valley Jobs On The Rise

FRANKFORT, 01/30/14 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced that a $250,000 economic development grant he secured is assisting with equipment purchases and job creation at DeIorio’s in Frankfort.

“DeIorio’s is a Mohawk Valley staple and the continued growth of this manufacturing pioneer here at home is tremendous news,” said Senator Seward. “This legislative grant is a key ingredient that is helping put DeIorio’s dough in more ovens, while preserving and adding jobs that could have gone out of state without this and other state grants.”
