Senator Seward Applauds Passage of Low-Cost Power Program

ALBANY, 03/08/11 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I–Oneonta) today announced senate approval of “Recharge NY,” creating a new, permanent program that would provide low-cost power to help businesses create and retain jobs.

“As the author of the original ‘Power for Jobs’ legislation, I am pleased to support a worthy replacement that will continue to provide a real lifeline for our upstate businesses,” said Senator Seward.  “By plugging in to ‘Recharge NY’ businesses will be able to lower their electricity bills, create and retain jobs, and generate economic growth.”

Business Boost For The Mohawk Valley

“Bringing down the cost of doing business is the critical component of job creation in upstate New York.  That is why I have strongly advocated extending municipal electric service from the Village of Frankfort to the Frankfort 5S Business Park.  With final approval from the New York State Public Service Commission, the business park will now be equipped to offer manufacturers and other prospective tenants low cost power to go along with excellent transportation routes and a first-class local workforce.  All things considered, the “Pumpkin Patch” is now one of the premier sites for economic development in the Mohawk Valley.”

Seward Joins In Historic Announcement For Remington Arms & Ilion

ILION, 07/27/11 - State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I - Oneonta) today joined the Village of Ilion and Remington Arms, LLC in announcing that Remington Arms is now a full requirements retail electric customer of the Village of Ilion municipal electric system. Earlier this year the village received an allocation of additional hydropower from the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to support this provision of electric service and Remington Arms' recent project expansion and job retention in Ilion.

Electrical Service Upgrade Needed in Laurens

ONEONTA, 02/23/12 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) has called on New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) to upgrade electrical service in the Town and Village of Laurens in Otsego County.

A number of constituents have contacted Senator Seward concerning frequent power outages.  Seward recently convened a meeting with representatives from the Town and Village of Laurens, Laurens Central School District and NYSEG to discuss the unacceptable situation.

Seward Lights Up Downtown Oneonta

ONEONTA, 09/20/13 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced that a $250,000 legislative grant he secured will fund a major streetlight replacement project in downtown Oneonta. 

“The City of Oneonta is in the midst of a complete downtown renaissance – new merchants, new residents, new storefronts and new infrastructure,” said Senator Seward. “This legislative grant will assist in the redevelopment and translates to a greener downtown through energy efficiencies and cost savings.”
