Job Creation Projects In 51st Senate District Net $21 Million

ONEONTA, 12/19/12 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced that 50 job creation projects in the 51st senate district will receive critically important state funds through the second round of Regional Economic Development Council awards.

“The Regional Economic Development Council approach provides our state with a real economic spark, capitalizing on a bottom up approach which maximizes creative and innovative ideas generated by local stakeholders,” said Senator Seward.  “I applaud Governor Cuomo and Lieutenant Governor Duffy for this successful initiative that is spurring job growth and building a stronger economy for the future.”

ALBANY, 01/09/13 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today commented on Governor Cuomo’s State of the State address:

“New York is headed in the right direction financially thanks in part to a strong working relationship between the legislature and Governor Cuomo that has evolved over the last two years.  As we embark on the 2013 legislative session I anticipate additional collaborations that will bring further improvements.

“The governor’s pledge to continue to hold the line on taxes is one I wholeheartedly endorse.  This has been a key piece of our state’s rebuilding foundation and one that must remain if we are to make further strides.

Budget Agreement Meets Key Priorities

ALBANY, 03/21/13 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today commented on the state budget agreement:

“With a budget agreement now in hand, New York is on track to complete work on the 2013-14 well ahead of the April 1 deadline, marking our third straight on-time budget and earliest in 30 years.  The plan also focuses on my key priorities – job growth, tax relief for middle class families and additional education aid for our area schools.

“The final budget will incorporate elements of the senate Republican Family Tax Relief Act, extending tax cuts to middle class workers, helping families with a $350 rebate check, and incorporating a total of $800 million in tax cuts.

Cut Red Tape, Create Jobs

ALBANY, 06/10/13 -- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) today announced senate approval of legislation he sponsored to allow the legislature to eliminate or amend state regulations that overstep their original intent.  The bill (S.3462) was part of a bi-partisan senate package aimed at ridding New York State of unnecessary government regulations that inhibit job creation and drive up local property taxes.
