ALBANY, 03/20/14 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I- Oneonta) today announced senate approval of legislation he sponsors, allowing the dissolution of the Montgomery, Otsego, Schoharie Solid Waste Authority (MOSA). Senator Seward’s bill (S.6181) follows a home rule request from the three member counties and the authority.
ALBANY, 04/15/14 -- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) today announced that crucial funding to support local highway improvements is included in the 2014-15 state budget.
“Local roads, bridges, and culverts are the backbone of our state’s infrastructure,” said Senator Seward. “County and town highway superintendents from throughout my district joined me in Albany last month to call for added state funding – and their voices were heard.”
After five years without any increase in Consolidated Highway Improvement Program (CHIPs) funding, the new budget includes a second year of record funding - $438 million – for important local highway, road, and bridge repair projects.
CORTLAND, 06/24/14 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced that a $250,000 legislative grant he secured will assist with the cost of an emergency communications equipment upgrade for Cortland County law enforcement officials.
“It is imperative that our law enforcement officials and first responders have the tools they need when they are called into duty, starting with a reliable communication network,” said Senator Seward. “This legislative grant will help Cortland County’s law enforcement officials do their job safely and efficiently, and will not come with an added cost to county taxpayers.”
