CPI gets $40,000 for Main Street

COBLESKILL -- Cobleskill Partnership Inc.’s efforts to dress up Main Street got a welcome shot in the arm Friday when State Senator Jim Seward delivered a check for $40,000.

The grant will go toward CPI’s popular façade program, said President Brian Kaiser, with a portion set aside specifically for work on the Newberry’s building.

Budget Work Cannot Wait

ALBANY, 03/03/10 – State senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today called for a full court press on development of the 2010-2011 budget. “The budget deadline is less than a month away and to date, very little has been accomplished concerning the 2010-2011 state budget.  We need to move forward now with a complete review of the governor’s proposal and set to work amending the plan for final approval.  Today’s five-way leaders meetings is a start, but we need to ramp up the work load.

Seward Bands With Farmers - Fights Farm Labor Bill

ALBANY, 03/01/10 -- Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today participated in a Senate Agriculture Committee hearing on senate bill 2247b, also known as the Farm Worker Fair Labor Practice Act.

“The bill, supported mainly by New York City politicians, would force farms to close, and drive one more industry, our top industry, out of New York state,” said Senator Seward.  “Ultimately, farm workers, who the bill is aimed at protecting, would wind up on the unemployment line, costing all New Yorkers.”
