Flood Recovery Funds Delivered To Mohawk Valley

HERKIMER, 08/29/13 -  Senator James L. Seward today joined Governor Andrew M. Cuomo as he issued $13.6 million in state aid checks to 1,206 homeowners, renters, businesses and farmers affected by July flooding across the Mohawk Valley, Central New York and Niagara County.

STAR Registration Fact Sheet

New legislation will require all homeowners receiving a Basic STAR exemption to register with the New York State Tax Department in order to receive STAR exemptions in 2014 and subsequent years.  Registration will begin on August 19 and continue through December 31, 2013.  The NYS Tax Department will mail instructions to all current Basic STAR recipients on how to register.  Senior Citizens receiving the Enhanced STAR exemption are not affected by the new registration requirement.

New Yorkers can call the helpline for assistance, including important local contact information for the Red Cross and Salvation Army, health and safety tips, where to go to receive a tetanus shot, what to do in case of an oil spill or power outage, mental health assistance, and for other recovery needs as well. Seward EMT Recertification Bill Signed Into Law

ALBANY, 07/01/13 -- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) today announced legislation he  sponsored that will extend the emergency medical technician five-year recertification demonstration program has been signed into law by Governor Cuomo.  The legislation (S.5152/A.7170) provides active volunteer emergency medical technicians (EMTs) in certain counties with additional time to meet recertification requirements.
