NYS Labor Dept. Announces Efforts To Ensure Amusement Park Safety

At a press conference today at Seabreeze Amusement Park in Rochester, New York, State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith described the efforts the Department of Labor is undertaking to ensure amusement park safety, and she reminded all New Yorkers to follow basic safety guidelines so they can gain the most enjoyment from rides at amusement parks and traveling carnivals.

Sen. Alesi & Rochester Delegation Announce $10 Million For New Crime Lab

The New York State Senate delegation representing Monroe County today announced that they have secured $10 million in funding for the construction of a new Monroe County Public Safety Laboratory.

The announcement was made at a news conference in Rochester by State Senators Joe Robach, Michael Nozzolio, Jim Alesi, and George Maziarz, who were joined by Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno, as well as by Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks and Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn.

Sen. Alesi Announces Nearly 1/2 Million For Emergency Response Teams

Senator Jim Alesi (R- Perinton) was joined today by local EMS and firefighters to announce $428,000 in state funding that Senator Alesi has secured for emergency responders in the 2008 state budget. The funding announcement coincides with National EMS Week, which runs from May 18th – May 24th. Sen. Alesi Presents New York States Highest Military Awards To Local Vietnam Vet

Congressman Randy Kuhl (R-Hammondsport), Senator Jim Alesi (R-Perinton), and Assemblyman Joe Errigo (R,C-Conesus), were joined by members of the American Legion Ely-Fagan Post 1151 today to host a special ceremony to present Mr. Timothy Walter Tysall, a local Vietnam veteran, with military awards sanctioned by the United States of America, and by the State of New York. Awards presented included the Presidential Unit Citation, New York State Conspicuous Service Star, and the Medal for Merit.

Senate Passes Transportation, Economic Development and Environmental Conservation Budget

The New York State Senate passed 2008-09 State budget legislation that makes critical investments in various transportation, economic development and environmental protection projects in order to upgrade our state’s infrastructure, create and retain jobs while attracting new businesses and investment dollars, and protect the state’s environment.

In addition, the legislation (S.6805-D and S.6809-C) restores funding to important economic and environmental programs administered by the Department of Economic Development and the Department of Environmental Conservation.
