Property Tax ReliefThis week the New York State Senate, with my support, passed a Property Tax Relief bill S6212. The legislation restores the STAR rebate check program for senior citizens with incomes below $150,000, as well as a property tax spending cap.  “It is the beginning of what needs to be a multi-level approach to Property Tax Reform that will provide meaningful relief to the hard-working, over-burdened taxpayers in our community,” said Senator Jim Alesi.

SENATOR ALESI VOTES FOR PROPERTY-TAX CAP/SUPPORTS GOVERNOR CUOMO’S PROPOSAL

Senator Jim Alesi (R-C-I – Perinton) today joined his colleagues in the New York State Senate to enact legislation (S.2706) that would place a cap on the growth of school property taxes at two percent (2%) or the Consumer Price Index (CPI), whichever is less. If passed by the Assembly, New York State will become the 44th state to cap local property taxes.
