“Conceptually Speaking,” Alesi Would Support Monserrate’s Expulsion

Sen. James Alesi, R-Perinton, Monroe County, wasn’t at today’s news conference in Manhattan to release the Senate panel’s report on Sen. Hiram Monserrate, but as a member of the panel, he said he supports its findings.

And Alesi said he would support Monserrate’s expulsion so long as the resolution brought to the Senate floor clearly calls for his removal. Alesi was one of four Republicans on the panel.

Alesi: Landmark Agreement Reached On Workers’ Comp

Senator Jim Alesi (R-Perinton) joined Governor Eliot Spitzer and legislative leaders to announce an agreement on workers’ compensation reform that will greatly reduce costs to businesses and increase benefits for workers in New York State. Senator Alesi has carried the ‘Unshackle Upstate’ workers’ compensation reform bill for years as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business.

Recent tests in Albany County show unsafe levels of lead, legislation would require annual testingWhen I was a Monroe County Legislator in the early 1990’s, I asked for a review of all drinking water fountains in schools and other public buildings. While the review did not take place at the time, when I became a State Senator, I began carrying legislation that would require all school districts to test their drinking water fountains annually for lead contamination and report those findings to the public.
