Italian Hospital Society Honors Klein

NEW YORK-On Sunday, November 24th at the Davenport Club in New Rochelle, Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) received the Italian Hospital Society’s annual award to persons who have helped advance the cause of Italian American culture in the region. Klein was presented the award by his colleague in government, Senator Diane Savino (D-Staten Island/Brooklyn).

Klein Hosts 2nd Annual Veterans' Day Breakfast

Senator Jeff Klein welcomed over 200 guests to his 2nd Annual Veterans' Day Breakfast at Villa Barone Manor in the Bronx. Veterans and their families from throughout the 34th senate district joined together to honor Kenneth Champlin, of the Throggs Neck Memorial Post and Grand Marshall of the Throggs Neck Veterans' Day Parade, as well as three deceased servicemen. The PS 14, John Calandra Chorus and SUNY Maritime Color Guard were also in attendence.

Klein Presents Proclamation To Nicola Marricco On His 90 Birthday

Nicola Marricco was born on July 30, 1918 in Selvacava, Italy. He immigrated to the United States of America on June 1, 1953, on the SS Andrea Doria, and became a naturalized citizen in 1962.

Nicola has been a Bronx resident for 55 years. After immigrating to the US, he settled with his family in the Belmont section of the Bronx . In 1968 he moved the family to Woodlawn where he still resides.

Even a couple of foreclosed homes can drag down a neighborhood. That's the lesson Throgs Neck residents learned the hard way by watching two houses in their Bronx neighborhood decay after lenders forced their owners out.

The two foreclosed homes, on Revere and Calhoun avenues, brought their neighbors to despair over mouse infestation, giant stinking piles of trash, graffiti and vandalism.
