PELHAM, NY-A bevy of happy seniors stepped up briskly as Senator Klein announced the winners of his Senior Appreciation Days Raffle. The appearance at the Pelham Senior Center was just one in a series of visits that Senator Kleinis conductingthroughout the district, drawing hundreds of names from a list of overtwo thousand hopeful entrants fora chance to enjoy an all expenses paid afternoon at the Westchester Broadway Dinner Theatre, along with a three course hot lunch, and a very special senior resource fair.

Klein Presents Check For $12,500 To Wjcs

MT. VERNON, NY-Senator Jeff Klein had the pleasure to present a check for $12,500 to Westchester Jewish Community Services in Mt. Vernon and celebrate the 104th birthday of Ms. Esther Zelfman. The funds will be used to support the daily lunch program and related activities that WJCS provides to its dozens of members, aged 65-104. The Senator ate cake with representatives from the administrative body of the WJCS, as well as seniors enjoying their afternoon bingo in celebration of Ms. Zelfman's centennial plus.

Klein And Senate Dems Unveil Updated Analysis Of Sub-prime Mortgage Crisis

New York up to a tie for the fifth-highest projected foreclosure rate in the nation.  Of the sub-prime mortgages originated in 2005, more than 20% are expected to eventually end in foreclosure.


Albany, we will use what we learned to correct the loopholes that have caused this situation to get out of hand.

BRONXVILLE-Dropping by one of his Summertime Symphonies, Senator Klein met with residents of Bronxville as they enjoyed an evening of free music performed by Jason Nazzaro. Senator Klein addressed the eager crowd, speaking of his own love of music and the pleasure of summer nights. The concert was one in a series that the Senator is sponsoring yet again, throughout the 34th senate district.

Klein Co-hosts Dmv Mobil Outreach Program

Fordham Road. DMV responded by offering to hold a Mobile Outreach Event in Senator Klein's district office to provide services for area residents in a more convenient setting.  Individuals renewed licenses and were able to apply for non-driver I.D.'s, among other services. The Mobile Outreach unit proved to be an efficient solution, offering individuals all the services of the DMV in the convenience of their own neighborhood.

Senators Johnson, Klein, Hold Predatory Lending Forum

Long Island.

The forum, held at the Elmont Public Library, is the latest in a series of statewide public hearings headed by Senator Jeff Klein, (D-Bronx/Westchester) that examines the pitfalls of sub-prime mortgages.

The evidence and testimony gathered during these hearings will help develop legislative safeguards that will protect consumers and hold unscrupulous lenders accountable, Senator Johnson said.

Klein & MTA Bring Better Bus Service To Bronx

The study found certain problems with the reliability of express bus service, for which the Senator made five major recommendations. In response to constituent concerns about a lack of on-time service Senator Klein has been working with the MTA Bus Company to address these issue.

Westchester Democratic Delegation Announces Funding Increases For Crime Prevention Initiatives

New York City plagued with more than 80% of statewide crime, excluding the city. Total funding for Operation IMPACT will increase from $14.9 million to $17 million.

According to statistics provided by the Governor's office, crime in counties where Operation IMPACT has been implemented is down by 5%.

Klein Keeps Officers Fit

YONKERS, NY-Joined by members of the 2nd Precinct Community Council, Senator Klein toured the excercise facilities at the 2nd Police Precinct and did a few laps onthe machinesthat his $7,500 donation helped purchase.Lt. Klein Cuts Check For Camping

BRONX-Senator Klein stopped by Boy Scout Troop #182 last Thursday to present a check for $1000 to eager scouts. Klein, an avid fisherman, spoke briefly about his own enjoyment of the outdoors, the importance of public service, and the role organizations like the Boy Scouts of America serve to promote civic mindedness and physical activity in young people. When asked how they intend to spend the money, the troop leader responded that he hoped it would help support the cost of camping trips, an important activity in the life of a young scout.

New York Salutes America

BRONX-Once again Orchard Beach saw an explosion of colors and charisma as Senator Klein and Bronx Borough President Carrionhosted the3rd Annual New York Salutes America Celebration. Over 5000 people swarmed the beach for an evening of live music, face painting, carnival fun, and a private BBQ reception. The West Point Color Guarde kicked off the opening ceremonies as the NYC Transit Pipes and Drums, joined by dozens ofBronx veterans, lead the crowd in Amazing Grace.
