Senate Bipartisan Task Force on Hurricane Sandy Recovery Releases Preliminary Report Outlining Recommendations on Storm Relief, Contingency Planning and Disaster Mitigation

Less than three months after Senate Co-Leaders Jeffrey D. Klein and Dean G. Skelos launched the New York State Senate Bipartisan Task Force on Hurricane Sandy recovery, the Task Force has released its preliminary report and recommendations on Sandy relief and storm planning. The preliminary report and recommendations come after Task Force members toured storm damaged communities across the New York City Metro Area, including Freeport, Island Park, Oceanside, The Rockaways, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Hudson Valley.

Marriage Equality in New York: One Year Later, Economic Activity Meets, Surpasses, IDC’s 2011 Estimates

Numbers released today prove that members of the New York State Senate’s Independent Democratic Conference got it right one year ago when they predicted that an annual average of at least 7,000 same sex couples would tie-the-knot over the first three years of marriage equality going into effect. With 11,518 same sex couples marrying in New York over the last year, New York experienced economic growth even greater than the IDC could have predicted.

Klein, Dinowitz, Community Celebrate Closure of Objectionable Massage Parlor in Riverdale

Months Long Investigation Results In Closure Order

 

RIVERDALE, BRONX, N.Y. –  Senator Jeffrey D. Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) joined with Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (D-Bronx) and leaders in the Riverdale Community to celebrate the closure of “New Healing Touch” massage parlor which has long been a source of concern to many in the surrounding area.  The parlor was closed after two arrests in the last six months for prostitution.  Senator Klein wrote to Commissioner Raymond Kelly in December of last year asking that the site be investigated.
