Senate Passes Klein Bill to Help NYS Local Farmers Deliver Produce in Urban Areas

 

ALBANY, NY – State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeffrey D. Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced on Monday that the Senate passed his legislation to increase New Yorkers’ access to fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables. Klein’s bill (S.6203/NYS Assembly same-as A.6408/Ortiz) authorizes the NYS Urban Development Corporation to offer loans and grants to local and regional farmers, making it easier for them to distribute and transport produce to grocery stores and green markets.

Klein Bill Establishes Uniform Letter Grade System for Restaurant Inspections

 

State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced on Thursday that the Senate passed his legislation to establish a uniform, state-wide grading system for restaurants. Klein’s bill (S.8171) would require the NYS Commissioner of Health to establish a uniform letter grading system of “A,” “B,” and “C” to classify restaurant inspection results and mandate that restaurants prominently display their letter grade for patrons.

Senate Passes Klein Bill to Strengthen Green Markets/ Increase Access to New York Grown Products

The State Senate Tuesday unanimously passed legislation sponsored by Senator Jeffrey D. Klein, (D-Bronx/ Westchester), that would expand local and regional green markets, like those in the greater Bronx area, and increase access to New York State grown fruits and vegetables.
