The Bronx, NY – On Wednesday, November 14th at the Hutchinson Metro Center at 1200 Waters Place in The Bronx, NY, Senator Klein will host a job fair exclusively for our nation’s veterans. At the event, over 30 New York and Bronx based employers will reach out to veterans about current openings at their company or institution. To maximize the use of each veteran’s time, Senator Klein has only invited those employers who currently have job opportunities available and are actively seeking to employ our returning vets.
ALBANY, N.Y. – Seeking new and effective ways to spur job creation and address perennially high unemployment rates amongst New York’s returning combat veterans, Independent Democratic Conference Leader and Senate Co-Leader Jeffrey D. Klein, alongside fellow IDC member Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland), Republican Senator Greg Ball (R-Putnam) and a bipartisan group of Senators from across New York, introduced legislation today to provide major tax credits to private employers hiring veterans discharged after 9/11. The legislation is named “Jobs for Heroes.”
ALBANY, N.Y. - Building upon growing momentum in support of a minimum wage increase, the Independent Democratic Conference today released a new economic report underscoring the importance of raising the minimum wage to New York’s female and minority workforce. This cross-section of low-wage workers is critical to New York’s economy since, as the report illustrates, women and minority workers make up a disproportionate number of New York’s minimum wage workers.

Senator Klein fought for the tax credit during this year’s budget negotiations after learning about the sky-high unemployment rate among New York’s returning veterans.
