ALBANY, NY – State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeffrey D. Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), Assemblymember Joseph Morelle (D- Irondequoit), State Senator Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn), State Senator Martin Golden (R-Brooklyn), and State Senator George Onorato (D-Queens) joined representatives from the New York State Sheriffs' Association, the Center for HOPE, and victims’ rights advocates to call for passage of legislation mandating DNA collection upon arrest in an effort to put more criminals behind bars before they strike again.

Senate Passes Klein Bill to Provide Housing Authorities Monthly Data on Registered Offenders

 

ALBANY, NY – State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeffrey D. Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced on Monday that the State Senate passed his legislation to help prevent registered sex offenders from moving into public housing. Last week, Klein unveiled the results from his most recent investigation showing nearly one hundred level 2 and 3 registered sex offenders are illegally living in public housing units in New York City.

Independent Democratic Conference Releases 2012 Legislative Agenda

 

NEW YORK, NY - The Independent Democratic Conference  released its 2012 legislative agenda Thursday aimed at strengthening this state's economy, improving the lives of New York residents, and preserving New York's progressive tradition.

The agenda was released on the anniversary of the IDC's formation and after a successful year that saw many of the conference's 2011 priorities made into law.
