Senate Jeff Klein Joins North Bronx Girl Scouts for Ice Skating Event Commemorating 100 Year Anniversary

VAN CORTLANDT PARK, BRONX, NY – Senator Jeff Klein joined Girl Scouts from the North Bronx 124 Service Unit yesterday for “Girl Scouts on Ice,” an afternoon event at the new Van Cortlandt Park Ice-Skating Rink. Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (D-Riverdale, pictured on the right) and New York City Council candidate, Andrew Cohen, were also in attendance. At the event, Senator Klein distributed patches commemorating the 100 year anniversary of Girl Scouts of Greater New York. Girl Scouts from all levels of scouting; grades K-12 attended the event.

Senator Klein Visits Students in Project BOOST Program at PS 72

BRONX, NY -  Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) visited with students, parents and teachers at PS 72 this morning to learn about how a grant Senator Klein provided through Project Boost to 12 schools in his district, including PS 72, has been integrated into the curriculum. Senator Klein is planning to visit all 12 participating schools in his district, deeming the program important and valuable.

Senator Klein Visits with Students in PS 83’s Project BOOST Program at Restaurant in Morris Park

BRONX, NY -  Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) joined students, parents and teachers from PS 83 today for lunch at 900 Park, a local restaurant on Morris Park Avenue. At the lunch, Senator Klein learned how a grant he provided through Project Boost to 12 schools in his district, including PS 83, has been integrated into the curriculum. The lunch itself was an event for BOOST children to offer them the opportunity to dine at a local restaurant and meet Senator Klein. Senator Klein is planning to visit all 12 participating schools in his district over the course of this semester. Senator Klein called the program dynamic and innovative:

Senate Co-Leader Jeff Klein, IDC, and TV Star Padma Lakshmi Kick-off Teen Health Awareness Campaign in Albany Launch New Online Survey for Teens, www.TeenHealthNY.com, to Inform Policy Makers and Announce New Education Fund to Direct Resources

Albany, NY -- At the State Capitol on Wednesday, Padma Lakshmi, host of Bravo TV’s Top Chef and co-founder of the Endometriosis Foundation of America, joined Senate Majority Coalition Leader Jeffrey D. Klein and members of the Senate’s Independent Democratic Conference to kick-off a Teen Health Awareness Campaign.  The campaign focuses on reducing adolescent obesity, educating students about the health consequences of short and long-term alcohol and substance abuse, and raising awareness among young women and health professionals about endometriosis, an often undiagnosed but debilitating disease.  March is Endometriosis month.  At the press conference, Senator Klein was joined by seventh graders from JHS 141, a middle school in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.
