Senator Klein presents 100K grant to New Rochelle School District for expansion of SmartMusic Program
NEW YORK- On Friday, March 12th, Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) joined by New Rochelle Superintendent Richard Organisciak, school officials and students, presented a $100,000 grant to the New Rochelle School District.
The money will be used to fund the expansion of the district’s SmartMusic program, giving elementary students new opportunities to learn how to play a musical instrument and improve their vocal performances.
Led by Senator Klein, Task Force Demands Answers on Excessive Overtime Pay and Overhead Costs
ALBANY – The Senate Task Force on Government Efficiency, chaired by State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeff Klein, probed officials from the State University of New York (SUNY) system at a public hearing Thursday regarding excessive spending on overtime pay and overhead costs. The hearing was the first of many the Task Force plans to conduct in an effort to examine spending at state agencies.

Klein Bill Expands Opportunity for Seniors and the Physically Disabled to Participate in Democratic Process
ALBANY – State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced on Monday that the Senate passed legislation to shorten work shifts for election-day poll workers. The bill (S1836) permits local Boards of Elections to hire election inspectors for half-day shifts, preventing fatigue and flexibility for workers whose shifts often start before the polls open at 6 AM and end after they close at 9 PM.

Senator Klein presents a 125K grant to the Bronx District Attorney to expand Anti-Auto Theft “Bait Car” operations

NEW YORK- On Saturday, February 20th, Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) helped clean-up graffiti on the rectory wall of Saint Francis Xavier Church in Morris Park.
Saint Francis Xavier Pastor Father Matthew Fiore reached out to Senator Klein's office after finding the graffiti on the rectory wall on the first floor of the church on the morning of Friday, February 19, 2010. As part of Klein’s graffiti clean-up program, the Senator sent over a crew and even sprayed down some of the graffiti himself within 24 hours of the Pastor contacting his office.
