BRONX, NY – State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) hosted a Town Hall Meeting at Throggs Neck Houses tonight with the Chairman of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), Tino Hernandez. Senator Klein and Chairman Hernandez addressed community concerns, including NYCHA fees, education funding and building conditions.

ALBANY, NY- State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Westchester/Bronx), a member of thepowerful Senate Finance Committee, today hailed the on time Legislative passage the Public Protection and General Government portion of the state budget with millions in additional funding to Bronx and Westchester County communities in the 34th Senate District.
Earlier, Senator Klein commissioned a study entitled “Filled Prescriptions, Empty Pockets” that found that prescription drug prices varied dramatically from one pharmacy to the next, making it difficult to find the best price. Armed with this report, Klein successfully fought for legislation requiring the Department of Health to compile prescription drug price lists from every pharmacy in the state and post them on their website so seniors can shop around for the best drug prices.
“I am a firm believer that knowledge is power,” Klein said.
New York state laws prevent most rape prosecutions after only five years.
Senator Klein has introduced legislation that would repeal this archaic law and give prosecutors the ability to harness modern technology to bring rapists to justice regardless of when their crimes are committed. Last month, the Senate passed legislation ending the statutory limitation by a 60-1 margin, although the State Assembly has yet to take up the proposal.
