Senator Klein Hosts Women's Wellness Lunch, Commemorating Bronx Women's Wellness Week

BRONX, NY -  Senator Klein hosted a luncheon on Saturday commemorating participation by nearly 200 Bronx women in Women's Wellness Week, a project launched by the US Department of Health and run by Urban Health Plan and the YMCA. Last year, Senator Klein secured $50,000 in funding to support Urban Health Plan's Women's Wellness Week program, which consisted of free health screenings, exercise classes and counseling aimed at helping women develop healthy habits.

State Senate Passes Klein Bill Extending Critical Foreclosure Protections for Homeowners

ALBANY, NY – Senate Co-Leader Jeffrey Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced Wednesday that the State Senate voted 56 - 1 in favor of his legislation that would extend vital foreclosure prevention measures and homeowner protections for an additional five years beyond the February 2015 expiration date.

Dinowitz, Klein Introduce Legislation to Designate Jerome Park as Parkland of NYC

Albany- Today Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (D-Bronx) and State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) were joined by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and a host of community activists near the Jerome Park Reservoir to introduce new legislation intent on designating Jerome Park as parkland of the city of New York. The bills, A.9681 and S.7467, would set in motion a public process by which most or all of what is known as Jerome Park can either become designated as park lands or lands that can be readily accessible to the general public for recreational use. The space could also be used as an urban wildlife or nature sanctuary.

In December, the American Studies Association, a prominent organization that includes some of the most respected colleges and universities across the United States, took the unprecedented step of boycotting all Israeli academic institutions and scholars from its events and conferences.

Despite calls by numerous college presidents--including those at Harvard and Yale universities--for the ASA to end the boycott against Israel, the ASA's discriminatory policy remains firmly in place. That's unacceptable.
