Senator John A. DeFrancisco had a great time participating in the Crouse Hospital Employee Recognition Picnic on May 8, 2014. Senator DeFrancisco and other local politicians and celebrities participate in this event every year to show their appreciation to the hundereds of employees who work at Crouse Hospital. Every year, Senator DeFrancisco serves the buns for sandwiches and (or) salads.

On Saturday May, 3, 2014, Senator John A. DeFrancisco spoke during the opening ceremonies for the Lyncourt-LeMoyne Little League. He wished all of the teams a safe and successful season and participated in a parade.
State Senator John A. DeFrancisco took the ring on Saturday night to help in the fight against youth violence. The match titled 'Fight for a Future" benefited the Ray Rinaldi Foundation, which provides healthy alternatives to at-risk youth living in the Greater Syracuse area. Ray Rinaldi is a Syracuse Hall of Fame Boxing Coach who operates the West and North Area Athletic and Education Centers.
The match was declared a draw by Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler, who served as the referee. Senator DeFrancisco's corner man was Syracuse Common Council President Van Robinson, and Ray Rinaldi's corner man was Assemblyman William Magnarelli.
State Senator John A. DeFrancisco participated in the dedication ceremony for Onondaga Community College's new baseball and softball fields complex on April 24, 2014. Senator DeFrancisco, a supporter of the project, spoke during the dedication ceremony and then joined in on a ceremonial pitch.
Both fields are constructed with artifical turf, and the complex has a seating capacity of 475 belacher-style seats.

Senator DeFrancisco presented the West Genesee Marching Band with a legislative resolution to recognize the band for winning the National Class of the 2013 New York State Field Band Conference.
Senator John A. DeFrancisco was pleased to recognize the Baldwinsville Girls Volleyball team at the New York State Capitol on March 6, 2014. He presented the team members and coaches with a legislative resolution, congratulating them for winning the State Class AA Championship.
State Senator John A. DeFrancisco is pleased to announce that his 2013/2014 Cell Phones for Soldiers collection drive has resulted in nearly 1,600 mobile phones - a record amount!
Senator DeFrancisco would like to thank the Central New York community for once again answering the call to help support this worthy cause and break a record for two consecutive years! Due to the community’s generosity, Cell Phones for Soldiers, a national nonprofit organization, will be able to recycle these gently-used donated phones to provide soldiers serving overseas with approximately 3,000 pre-paid calling cards. That’s about 3,000 hours, 180,000 minutes, of FREE phone time for deployed troops to call home.
On December 17, 2013, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco received the largest single donation to benefit his Cell Phones for Soldiers collection drive -- more than 500 mobile phones from Franciscan Companies and St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. This outstanding donation will provide more than 1,000 hours of free talk time to our soldiers serving overseas.
