State Senator John A. DeFrancisco joined other elected officials from Cayuga County for a press conference at the Sennett Town Hall on August 1, 2013. The press conference was held to discuss the Sennett Taxpayers Rebate Program, which Governor Cuomo signed into law. Through the program, residents and business owners in the Town of Sennett will receive a $100 rebate check, as the result of a surplus in sales tax revenue. Senator DeFrancisco was a co-sponsor of the legislation.
State Senator John A. DeFrancisco helped cheer on members of the Syracuse Challengers baseball team during Syracuse Challenger Baseball NBT Bank Stadium Night. Syracuse Challengers is a District 8 Baseball League program for children with developmental and physical disabilities. More than 200 children participated in the event, which was held at NBT Bank Stadium on July 25, 2013.

On July 10, 2013, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco helped mark the 15th anniversary of the Cycling the Erie Canal bike tour, by presenting a legislative resolution to organizers during a half-way point celebration at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse. Hundreds of bicycle riders from across the country participate in Cycling the Erie Canal, which began in Buffalo and will end in Albany on July 14th.

Senator DeFrancisco, along with Senator Michael Nozzolio and Assemblyman Gary Finch, presented organizers with a legislative resolution recognizing the Owasco Watershed Lake Association's 25th Anniversary.
On June 26, 2013, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco joined New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman for a press conference on Marcellus Street in Syracuse to announce a plan that would give $20 million to community land banks, so cities can turn vacant properties over to new owners.
On June 14, 2013, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco helped cut the ribbon on a new senior affordable housing facility, located on Heman Street in East Syracuse. The Heman Street Senior Apartments are located in the former Heman Street School in East Syracuse. Thirty tenants have already moved in.

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco joined CenterState CEO today in announcing six new recipients in the Grants for Growth program. A total of $398,680 was awarded in the program’s tenth round, and these grants will be leveraged against private sector and university matching funds.
Grants for Growth is a CenterState CEO seed program that supports innovative applied research projects between universities and industries to create jobs. Senator DeFrancisco has secured $5 million in funding for the program.

Senator John A. DeFrancisco helped raise money for Hospice of the Finger Lakes by sponsoring an electronics recycling event in Auburn on May 18, 2013. The event was a partnership with Time Warner Cable, Sunnking Electronics and Hospice, and it was free for the public to dispose of their unwanted electronics. Senator John A. DeFrancisco had the pleasure of presenting Leslie Reichardt, Lt. Col, USAF Retired, a WW II veteran, with a certificate of appreciation on Armed Forces Day. The CNY Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America held a dinner meeting on May 18, 2013, at which Senator DeFrancisco presented the certificate and spoke about legislation to better protect and support active military members and veterans.
