New York has clearly faced major economic challenges in recent years. That’s why – in partnership with Governor Andrew Cuomo – we took decisive action during this year’s Legislative Session to help revitalize our economy and create new job opportunities. Taken together, these changes and reforms represent one of the boldest job-creation plans New York State has enacted in decades. That’s good news – especially in terms of our efforts to create new jobs here right in our local community.REAL PROGRESS / FUNDAMENTAL REFORMS
The positive steps we’ve taken to create a stronger economy include the following:
Senator John A. DeFrancisco took part in a groundbreaking ceremony on September 26, 2011, for Phase II of Riverknoll at Radisson in Baldwinsville, NY. The construction project is an 80-unit affordable rental complex.
On December 1, 2011, Senator John A. DeFrancisco, along with various community leaders, helped break ground on the redevelopment of 10 acres on the Kennedy Square Site in Syracuse. As part of this redevelopment, Kennedy Square will be renamed Loguen’s Crossing in a tribute to the Rev. Jermain Loguen and his family, whose home was part of the Underground Railroad. SUNY Upstate Medical University and COR Development Company LLC are collaborating on the project. The 10 acres are adjacent to the Central New York Biotechnology Research Center, which is currently under construction.
Senator John A. DeFrancisco (R-I-C, Syracuse) extends his congratulations to co-chairs Rob Simpson, Chancellor Nancy Cantor, and all members of the Central New York Regional Economic Development Council for submitting a winning proposal to the State of New York.
The Central New York council has been awarded $103.7 to invest in 74 projects, which will help to create jobs in Syracuse.“Our community should be proud that Central New York was one of four regional councils selected to receive these competitive funds due to the hard work and the outstanding presentation done by our regional council last month,” said Senator DeFrancisco.
“I look forward to seeing the impact that these grants have on the future of our community,” concluded Senator DeFrancisco.
On Wednesday, the New York State Legislature passed a middle class tax cut and job creation plan that will provide significant tax relief to hardworking families and business owners throughout the state. By changing the state’s tax bracket, approximately 4.4 million taxpayers will receive $690 million in personal income tax relief. This means more money in the taxpayer’s pocket to help fuel the economy.
