SENATE PASSES BILL AUTHORIZING FIVE-YEAR EXTENSION OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS RELAY SERVICE CENTER

Senator John A. DeFrancisco announced that the New York State Senate passed on May 8, 2012, his bill (S6794-A) that would authorize a five-year extension for the New York Telecommunications Relay Center to remain in Syracuse.

“This bill requires that the New York Telecommunications Relay Service Center remain in Syracuse, and along with it, nearly 100 private-sector jobs,” said Senator DeFrancisco.

“As the center continues to grow and to add new services, I am hopeful that more telecommunications jobs will be created in Syracuse,” added Senator DeFrancisco.

Senator DeFrancisco Joins Governor Cuomo at Cooper Crouse-Hinds in Syracuse

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco is pictured listening to Governor Cuomo during a press conference on August 3, 2012, regarding a new laboratory center at Cooper Crouse-Hinds in Syracuse.  Crouse-Hinds won a near $300,000 dollar state grant to help it expand and develop modern LED lighting products.  The grant was part of the Governor's economic development plan.  Prior to the press conference, Senator DeFrancisco also took a tour of the lab.

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco tours a new laboratory at Cooper Crouse-Hinds in Syracuse.  The plant credits a state grant in allowing it to expand and create jobs.  The Senator also joined Governor Cuomo for a press conference following his tour of the facility.   

Senator DeFrancisco Receives Top Ranking from the New York State Business Council

The New York State Business Council has released its 2012 ranking of state lawmakers, and Senator John A. Senator John DeFrancisco Tours Economic Development Projects with Governor Cuomo

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco shakes hands with construction workers at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center on October 2, 2012.  The Senator joined Governor Andrew Cuomo for a tour of regional economic development projects.  Other stops included the Biotech Accelerator site, Inner Harbor and Connective Corridor.  Senator DeFrancisco is a member of the Governor's assessment team.

Senator DeFrancisco Discusses Manufacturing in New York State

On October 15, 2012, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco participated in a panel discussion on the future of economic development programs for statewide manufacturers.  The annual event, which was hosted by the Manufacturers Association of Central New York, featured several panel discussions on various issues.  It was held at the Doubletree Hotel in East Syracuse.  

Senator DeFrancisco Announces New Round of Grants for Growth

On November 1, 2012, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco helped announce a new round of funding for Grants for Growth. The program, now entering its 10th round, awards grants to various companies.  During a press conference at The Tech Garden, Senator DeFrancisco addressed the program's impact on our economy through product development and job creation. Senator DeFrancisco has secured an additional $2 million dollars in funding for the program.  Companies that want to apply for Grants for Growth can visit www.thetechgarden.com/.

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco (R-I-C, Albany), Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver joined together in praising the winners of the 2012 New York Works Regional Economic Development Council Awards in Albany today (12/19/12).

SENATOR DEFRANCISCO ANNOUNCES LOCAL JOB CREATION PROJECTS TO RECEIVE STATE FUNDING

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco today (12/19/12) announced that 17 job creation projects in the 50th Senate District will receive critically important state funds through the second round of Regional Economic Development Council awards.

“The $93.8 million awarded for local projects will strengthen our economy and help create and retain jobs,” Senator DeFrancisco said. “Our community leaders serving on the regional economic development council have worked hard to put together an economic development strategy that takes advantage of the tremendous resources, skills and talent in our area. Governor Cuomo and Lieutenant Governor Duffy deserve recognition for this successful initiative that is spurring job growth and building a stronger economy for the future.”
