On this week’s program of Your Voice, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco provides an update on some significant issues being debated as budget talks intensify in Albany.  These budget items include tax reform, education reform, funding for charter schools, the Senate’s “Young Farmers NY” plan, and the “NY Dream Act.”

The 2014-2015 Staet Budget increases state education aid by more than $1.1 billion, but it also significantly reduces the Gap Elimination Adjustment, commonly referred to as the GEA.On this week’s Your Voice program, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco explains why Senate Republicans have been leading the charge to abolish the GEA and restore state aid for our students statewide.

Teachers are the tools that enable our students to succeed in life.  They unlock a child's potential by going above and beyond every day to mentor and inspire their students.  

That is why I am participating in the New York State Senate Teachers of Excellence awards program to recognize and honor those teachers who are making a difference in our community.  You can help me by nominating a teacher, who you think has excelled in his or her job, educating their students to the fullest.

Senator DeFrancisco Announces His 2014 Teachers of Excellence Awards Ceremony

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco will hold his first-ever Teachers Of Excellence awards ceremony this Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Jordan-Elbridge High School, starting at 4:00 pm. More than 20 educators throughout Onondaga and Cayuga Counties will be honored. They were nominated by students, faculty, staff, and family members.

“Teachers are the tools that enable our students to succeed in life,” said Senator DeFrancisco. “I am proud to recognize those dedicated educators within my district, who go above and beyond to educate, mentor and inspire their students.”

The ceremony will be held in the Jordan-Elbridge High School Auditorium, located at 5721 Hamilton Road in Jordan.

Update from Albany: Senator DeFrancisco Recognizes Teachers Making a Difference and Discusses Passed Legislation on Your Voice

Senator DeFrancisco Holds 2014 New York State Senate Teachers of Excellence Ceremony

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco held his first-ever Teachers Of Excellence awards program on June 5, 2014, at Jordan-Elbridge High School. More than 20 educators from throughout Onondaga County were honored for their outstanding efforts to help children learn during the 2013-14 school year.
