Protecting our Children from Drug Law Offenders

Protecting the most vulnerable members of our society is of the upmost importance to me. That is why I am advocating for a bill that would fix a dangerous problem created by legislation that was passed earlier this year. The enacted legislation would allow courts to seal the criminal records of certain drug felons when they complete drug court, so there will be no record of their conviction when they apply for employment.

Senator DeFrancisco Reads to Children at the Solvay Public Library Summer Storyhour.

Senator DeFrancisco was the guest reader at the Solvay Public Library storyhour.

This year’s theme for National Fire Prevention Week is “Protect Your Family From Fire.” As a proud grandfather of eight, I know how important it is to follow the advice of fire safety experts. I always check the working order of my home’s smoke detectors, minimize the use of potential fire hazards, such as candles, and I like to plan and practice a fire escape route with my family. Simple steps like these can help save lives.

Sadly, every year numerous fires devastate homes, businesses and families throughout Central New York. My thoughts are always with the victims as they try and recover. I also commend all of the brave firefighters, who work daily to protect the lives and properties of residents in my district.
