The website has a question-and-answer section, plus photographs of weapons to help gun owners understand if their gun will now be classified as an assault weapon.
Those who own what is now considered an assault weapon must register with the New York State Police within one year, beginning April 15. Registration is free.

The NY SAFE Act allows pistol license holders to protect the privacy of their personal information, including their home address, by providing them with a Public Records Exemption form.
