Stan F. Stanley

World War II veteran Stan F. Stanley was born September 27, 1919 in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Liverpool, New York, and graduated from Syracuse Vocational High in 1937.

In 1942, at the age of 22, Stan was drafted into the United States Army Air Force.He completed his basic training in Atlantic City and his flight training in Pueblo, Colorado. His tours of duty consisted of European theater and bombing raids on Berlin. Stan, a radio operator on a B24 bomber, completed 10 missions before tragedy struck.

Senator DeFrancisco Talks about Legislation to Protect Victims of Violent Crimes and a Measure to Create a State Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct

On this week’s program of Your Voice, Senator John A. DeFrancisco discusses a bipartisan effort to establish the State Commission on Prosecutorial, an impartial forum that would review allegations that prosecutors acted improperly, and exonerate prosecutors from false accusations. He also talks about a bill that he has sponsored to restrict alleged felons from personally accessing the records of their victims.

Diane Kuppermann, for the past 22 years, has effectively served as the President and CEO of Make-A-Wish® Central New York - an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Under Ms. Kuppermann’s leadership and foresight, the organization has expanded programs, added employees and fulfilled the wishes of nearly 1,500 children. She considers it her mission every day to provide hope, strength and happiness to children battling illnesses in her Central New York community.

Senator DeFrancisco Recognizes Rocky DiFlorio for 50 Years of Cutting Hair in Fayetteville

Senator John A. DeFrancisco stopped by Rocky DiFlorio's barbershop on May 9, 2014, to present Mr. DiFlorio with a Senate Citation for working at and owning the business for more than 50 years.  The barbershop, which is located on East Genesee Street in the Village of Fayetteville, is known for its old-fashioned barber chairs and pictures on the walls that date back 50 years ago.

Senator John A. DeFrancisco had a great time participating in the Crouse Hospital Employee Recognition Picnic on May 8, 2014.  Senator DeFrancisco and other local politicians and celebrities participate in this event every year to show their appreciation to the hundereds of employees who work at Crouse Hospital.  Every year, Senator DeFrancisco serves the buns for sandwiches and (or) salads.

Senator DeFrancisco Talks about the Fight for a Future on Your Voice

On the featured program of Your Voice, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco talks about getting in the ring with Hall of Fame Boxing Coach Ray Rinaldi for a charity boxing match.  Proceeds benefited the Ray Rinaldi Foundation, which helps keep inner city kids off the streets in Syracuse. The cable show features fun highlights from the boxing event, "Fight for a Future," which was held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Holiday Inn in Liverpool.

2014-2015 STATE BUDGET MAKES INVESTMENTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION

The New York State Senate passed the 2014-15 State Budget which includes major investments in New York’s higher education system. Aid includes support for the Tuition Assistance Program, public and private universities, and community colleges across the state. The budget increases base aid support for community colleges by $75 for each full-time equivalent student, which represents a total increase of $15.1 million for SUNY and CUNY community colleges.

2014-2015 STATE BUDGET INCREASES SCHOOL AID BY $1.1. BILLION

The New York State Senate passed the 2014-15 education budget that will increase school aid by $1.1 billion, bringing total support for public schools to $22.1 billion.  The 2014-15 State Budget distributes school aid fairly and equitably across the state, will help reduce pressure on local property taxpayers, provides additional support for charter schools and for early education programs, and makes important changes to address serious concerns raised about the Common Core program.

Senator DeFrancisco in the "Fight for a Future" with Boxing Hall of Fame Coach Ray Rinaldi

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco took the ring on Saturday night to help in the fight against youth violence.  The match titled 'Fight for a Future" benefited the Ray Rinaldi Foundation, which provides healthy alternatives to at-risk youth living in the Greater Syracuse area. Ray Rinaldi is a Syracuse Hall of Fame Boxing Coach who operates the West and North Area Athletic and Education Centers. 

The match was declared a draw by Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler, who served as the referee. Senator DeFrancisco's corner man was Syracuse Common Council President Van Robinson, and Ray Rinaldi's corner man was Assemblyman William Magnarelli.
