STATE SENATE PASSES LEGISLATION TO IMPROVE NEW YORK STATE'S AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY

The New York State Senate today(6/10/15) passed legislation to help keep the state’s agricultural industry booming. Among the seven bills passed, two were given final passage and will be sent to the Governor for consideration.

STATE SENATE PASSES LEGISLATION TO HELP SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE

The New York State Senate today (6/9/15) passed legislation to help assist and support individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The bill (S3968), sponsored by Senator Sue Serino (R-C-I, Hyde Park), Chair of the Senate Committee on Aging, would create a dementia and Alzheimer’s disease program database to help coordinate resources available to patients and caregivers.

Update from Albany: Senator DeFrancisco Discusses Legislation that Has Passed the State Senate on Your Voice

With the final days of the 2015 Legislative Session underway, the State Senate has been passing a number of important bills that Senator DeFrancisco supports. Some of these bills would hold tax delinquent landlords accountable, establish the felony offense of aggravated assault, and honor the life of a fallen local officer, Glenn Searles.

On the featured program of Your Voice, Senator John A. DeFrancisco discusses these bills, as well as the recent federal report on hydrofracking and the Governor’s "Raise the Age" proposal.

Update from Albany: Senator DeFrancisco Discusses the Final Weeks of Legislative Session Agenda on Your Voice

On this program of Your Voice, I talk about the bills and policy measures that will be negotiated during the final three weeks of Legislative Session. I also explain my efforts to ensure that the Governor’s Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) plan will provide ratepayers with safe, reliable energy.

Senator DeFrancisco Participates in Memorial Day Observances Throughout Central New York

Senator John A. DeFrancisco is pictured with members of the Boys Scouts at the Butterfly Garden in Liverpool on Memorial Day, 2015. The Scouts are from the Lowanne Nimat Lodge, Order of the Arrow - Scouting's national honor society, which is dedicated to cheerful service. They were serving as the color guard for the Memorial Day service.

SENATOR DEFRANCISCO RECOGNIZES DONALD D. FIDA AS HIS 2015 VETERANS HALL OF FAME HONOREE IN ALBANY

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco was extremely pleased to recognize World War II combat veteran and Syracuse resident, Sgt. Donald D. Fida, as his 2015 Veterans’ Hall of Fame honoree, during an Albany ceremony in the Legislative Office Building on May 19, 2015.  

“Though it is impossible to repay our veterans for all that they have sacrificed and contributed to this nation, the Veterans’ Hall of Fame does help to recognize their meritorious service as a fitting expression of gratitude,” said Senator DeFrancisco.

Donald Fida, who was born and raised in Syracuse, enlisted in the United States Army in 1942, becoming a member of the 184th Infantry Regiment of the 7th Infantry Division.

Donald Fida was born on January 28,1924, in Syracuse, New York. He enlisted in the United States Army on December 5, 1942, becoming a Private First Class in the 184th Infantry Regiment of the 7th Infantry Division, deployed to the Aleutian Islands in the Central Pacific.

Marsha K. Connor

Marsha K. Connor, an American Gold Star Mother, was elected President and Treasurer of the American Gold Star Mothers, Chapter #15, in October 2013. 

As the chapter’s president, Ms. Connor’s consistent goal is to increase fellowship among the Gold Star Mothers and to perpetuate the noble principles for which their children fought and died. She also promotes respect for our nation, by assisting veterans and active-duty military members in the Central New York community.
