More than 70 exhibitors provided attendees with information on healthcare, housing, transportation, etc. There were also free health screenings for interested senior citizens.
Also at the 2011 Senior Fair, Senator DeFrancisco helped announce details about the program, Embracing Age. Franciscan Companies have launched this new program, as a way to provide membership concierge service for the growing senior citizen population.

On September 11, 2011, Senator John DeFrancisco paid tribute to the victims and survivors of 9/11 by attending several local remembrance ceremonies. He spoke during the Baldwinsville Fire Department’s dedication of its 9/11 Memorial, which features a steal beam from the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The Senator also attended the Town of DeWitt’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, the “We Remember: 9/11 Memorial Service” at Sheridan Park, a Commemorative Concert at West Genesee High School and a memorial program at the New York State Fairgrounds by the Eagle Association of CNY.

Senator John DeFrancisco helps cut the ribbon at the Toll Road Senior Apartments. The new, affordable senior citizens housing complex is located off North Main Street (Route 11) in North Syracuse. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on September 9th.
Senator John DeFrancisco attended a memorial ceremony at Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse on September 9th, where students and staff honored the victims of 9/11 through prayer and song. Students held up American flags, sang "God Bless The USA" and particpated in a moment of silence. There was also a new flag raising.
Senator John DeFrancisco attended the unveiling of the "New York Remembers" exhibit at the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology in Syracuse. On display is a battalion chief car from the FDNY headquarters at Metrotech in Brooklyn. Several FDNY battalion chiefs were lost on 9/11.
To mark the start of the 2011 New York State Fair, Senator John A. DeFrancisco joined New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Agriculture Commissioner Darrel Aubertine, and several other dignitaries for a ribbon cutting ceremony near the Center of Progress building on Thursday, August 25th.
