Senator John A. DeFrancisco has announced that several libraries in Onondaga County have been awarded New York State Public Library Construction Grants to help make necessary improvements to their buildings.
The local grants are among 192 construction grants awarded to public libraries and library systems throughout New York state, which are supported by $14 million in capital funds for public library construction provided in the State Budget.
State Senator John A. DeFrancisco spoke with senior citizens during a luncheon on May 4, 2012, hosted by the Wisdom People St. Daniel Senior Citizens Group. The Senator addressed ongoing state issues and provided helpful information on various state programs and services that are available to seniors. About 90 people attended the luncheon.
New York State Senator John A. DeFrancisco announced that the Senate passed his legislation today (S6469), which requires state agencies to pay interest for money owed on state contracts within 30 days.
Current law requires state agencies to furnish interest payments on state contracts that are paid late to not-for-profit organizations, but they do not provide a specific time frame by which such interest payments must be made. This bill would require that interest payments must be paid within 30 days of any payment required by contract, or as soon as monies become available, whichever is earlier.

April is designated "Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness Month" in New York state, to raise awareness about the disorder, and to support families of autistic individuals.
As your Senator, I was proud to co-sponsor a bill last year, which Governor Cuomo signed into law, that will provide families with better access to critically important medical care for both adults and children who have autism.
