SENATOR DEFRANCISCO EXPLAINS MIDDLE CLASS TAX CUT AND JOB CREATION PLAN

On Wednesday, the New York State Legislature passed a middle class tax cut and job creation plan that will provide significant tax relief to hardworking families and business owners throughout the state. By changing the state’s tax bracket, approximately 4.4 million taxpayers will receive $690 million in personal income tax relief. This means more money in the taxpayer’s pocket to help fuel the economy.

SENATOR DEFRANCISCO CONGRATULATES THE CENTRAL NEW YORK REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL FOR SUBMITTING A WINNING PROPOSAL

Senator John A. DeFrancisco (R-I-C, Syracuse) extends his congratulations to co-chairs Rob Simpson, Chancellor Nancy Cantor, and all members of the Central New York Regional Economic Development Council for submitting a winning proposal to the State of New York.

The Central New York council has been awarded $103.7 to invest in 74 projects, which will help to create jobs in Syracuse.“Our community should be proud that Central New York was one of four regional councils selected to receive these competitive funds due to the hard work and the outstanding presentation done by our regional council last month,” said Senator DeFrancisco.

 “I look forward to seeing the impact that these grants have on the future of our community,” concluded Senator DeFrancisco.

Senator DeFrancisco Receives Honorary Recognition Award from the Central Counties Professional Nurses Association

Senator John A. DeFrancisco was presented on December 1, 2011, with an Honorary Recognition Award from members of the Central Counties Professional Nurses Association for his "tireless efforts on behalf of patient rights and for being a true friend of the nursing profession."  He is pictured with Registered Nurses Christopher Kowal and Christine Schrank.  A reception was held in the Senator's honor.

Senator DeFrancisco Kicks Off Collection Drive for Cell Phones for Soldiers

Senator John A. DeFrancisco has started his collection drive for Cell Phones for Soldiers.  You can drop off your old cell phones at various collection sites throughout Onondaga County.   During a recent press conference, the Senator explained why the non-profit program is so important to soldiers and their families.

Senator DeFrancisco Participates in Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Redevelopment of Kennedy Square Site

On December 1, 2011, Senator John A. DeFrancisco, along with various community leaders, helped break ground on the redevelopment of 10 acres on the Kennedy Square Site in Syracuse. As part of this redevelopment, Kennedy Square will be renamed Loguen’s Crossing in a tribute to the Rev. Jermain Loguen and his family, whose home was part of the Underground Railroad.  SUNY Upstate Medical University and COR Development Company LLC are collaborating on the project.  The 10 acres are adjacent to the Central New York Biotechnology Research Center, which is currently under construction.

Senator DeFrancisco and the Alzheimer's Association Celebrate Activation of New York's Missing Vulnerable Adult Program

Senator John A. DeFrancisco, along with members of the Alzheimer's Association, held a press conference on November 30, 2011, to announce the activation of the Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert System, which operates similarly to the state's "Amber Alert" system for missing and exploited children.  Now, when an adult with a cognitive impairment goes missing, the Department of Criminal Justice Services can issue an alert to local law enforcement agencies and media outlets to help locate the missing person.  Senator DeFrancisco sponsored the legislation.

DeFrancisco (R-I-C, Syracuse), an Air Force veteran, is once again calling on Central New Yorkers to support our troops this holiday season by donating their used cell phones to Cell Phones for Soldiers. Major Martin Debock, executive officer for the Syracuse Army Recruiting Battalion, Master Sergeant Peter Palumb, and Mark Burns, public affairs specialist for the battalion,joined Senator DeFrancisco at a press conference to discuss the importance of helping our troops stay connected.

Senator John DeFrancisco was the official starter of the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot at Schiller Park in Syracuse. Wearing the official starter hat, he is pictured with his granddaughters and his daughter-in-law and with the Friends of Schiller Park organizer. Senator DeFrancisco completed the 2 1/2 mile inaugural run.
