Technology School To Receive Boost Under State Budget

State Senator John J. Bonacic and William J. Larkin, announced that as part of the budget $250,000 will be provided to Ulster County BOCES to help develop a regional technology school for Hudson Valley students.

The school, known as the Hudson School of Math, Science & Engineering, was proposed by State Senator Bonacic and Senator Larkin last year. Legislation to authorize the school has been passed in the Senate.

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) will be presented with this year’s "Friend of Community Colleges" Award by the New York Community College Trustees of the State of New York during their 53rd Annual Conference. The theme of this year’s Conference is "Working Together for Community Colleges" and will be held at the Saratoga Hotel and Conference Center.The "Friend of Community College" Award is one of the highest awards of the College Trustees bestowed upon a non-Trustee of the College.

Senator Bonacic Gives Budget Update

Center on Friday, March 23. Public budget negotiations stalled two days ago, when the Assembly’s Democratic Leadership stopped attending the meetings.

“I would welcome the Assembly’s leadership to a public dialogue on the budget. Taxpayers deserve public budget conference committees; it’s a matter of principle that shouldn’t be compromised on,” Bonacic said.

Bonacic: Senate Passes Resolution Urging New York's Congressional Delegation To Oppose President Bush's Health Care Cuts

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced today that the New York State Senate today passed a legislative resolution urging New York’s Congressional delegation to oppose President Bush’s plan to cut the federal health care budget by more than $100 billion over five years.

Senator Bonacic said that President Bush’s budget plan would cut payments to New York hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, hospices, and inpatient rehabilitation providers by $2.8 billion over the next five years.

Bonacic: Workers' Compensation Overhauled

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) announced that the Senate has approved the implementation of reforms agreed upon by the Governor and Legislature to the State’s Workers’ Compensation System. The measure calls for increases in benefits to injured workers, as well as reductions in the amount employers pay.
