BONACIC: WHY WAIT FOR NEW GOVERNOR ON TAX CAP!

 State  Senator  John  J.  Bonacic  (R/I/C  – Mt. Hope), is urging the Governor  to  call  the special Legislative session and force a vote on the school  property  tax  cap  in  the  State  Assembly.  The State Senate has repeatedly passed a school property tax cap.

Attorney  General  Andrew  Cuomo  has proposed a 2% tax cap on school property  taxes – which Senator Bonacic supports.  The NY Post has reported that  Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver is open to supporting a tax cap – but only if Cuomo is elected Governor.

BONACIC: DON’T END FREE SKIING FOR SENIORS AT BELLEAYRE

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C – Mt. Hope), today asked the DEC not to end free skiing for seniors over the age of 70 at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center.  The Albany Times Union reported today that two of the State’s major, publicly owned ski centers – Gore and Whiteface, are no longer offering free skiing to those aged 70 and above.

“We are responsible for each action we take.  Former Senator Monserrateserved as a Marine, police officer, and was one of the Senators who led theeffort to help reform the Senate’s rules last year.  We honor our veterans.We support our police officers.  We want reformers to succeed.  The goodactions he performed in those roles however, still do not authorizecriminal conduct.   Here, Mr.  Monserrate was convicted of a crimeassociated with an assault on his girlfriend.   There must be zerotolerance for domestic violence.
