Senator Bonacic Presents NYS Senate Proclamation to West Point Representatives: West Point Day, April 30

Senator Bonacic and Senator Larkin met with representatives from West Point to present a Senate Proclamation recognizing West Point Day on April 30, 2014.  Here is the Senator with (l to r) Senator William Larkin; Colonel Ed Naessens (West Point Representative); First Captain Lindsey Danilack; and Major Henry Soussan (Jewish Chaplain, West Point).

Senator Bonacic met with West Point Cadet, Christopher Whipple, a graduate from Neversink's Tri-Valley Central School during West Point Day at the State Capitol.  Cadet Whipple was with the West Point delegation visiting for the occasion.

Senator Bonacic Speaks at Memorial for Fallen Greenwood Lake Soldier, Lance Cpl. Scott A. Lynch

Senator Bonacic was a guest speaker at the dedication ceremonies to honor Lance Cpl. Scott A. Lynch of Greenwood Lake, killed in action in Afghanistan in October, 2010.  The Senator presented the family with a NYS Senate Resolution, and a posthumous Liberty Medal which is the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the NYS Senate. A memorial to LCPL Lynch was also unveiled at Greenwood Lake's American Legion Post #1443.

4th Annual Fort Drum Day

This past week, the New York State Senate hosted service members from Fort Drum as part of the annual Fort Drum Day in Albany. The event – which is in its 4th consecutive year – celebrated Fort Drum and its contributions to the state and our nation. Fort Drum is home to 18,000 soldiers and officers and is located in Jefferson County, NY. It is the largest military installation in the Northeastern United States. The Fort Drum contingent visiting Albany was lead by Major General Stephen Townsend, Commander of the 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum.

SENATOR BONACIC WELCOMES WEST POINT CADETS TO ALBANY AS NY SENATE CELEBRATES WEST POINT DAY

Senator Bonacic was pleased to welcome Cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point to Albany as part of the NY Senate’s 2015 West Point Day. Bonacic had the opportunity to speak with Cadet Christopher Whipple about his time at the Academy. Cadet Whipple resides in Neversink, NY and is set to graduate in 2015. Senior Academy personnel were also on hand, including the Superintendent of the United States Military Academy, Lieutenant General Robert Caslen. These Cadets are some of the best and brightest that this country has to offer, and West Point Day offers the State Legislature a chance to recognize them.

SENATOR BONACIC ANNOUNCES ORANGE COUNTY RESIDENT MICHAEL CODY HAS BEEN INDUCTED INTO THE NY SENATE VETERANS HALL OF FAME

Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that Orange County resident, and Army veteran, Michael Cody has been inducted into the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame. Mr. Cody was honored, along with other inductees, at a ceremony in Albany on Tuesday May 19th.

Dedication of the Disabled American Veterans Tunnel in the Town of Wallkill

Last Friday, a representative from my office attended the Town of Wallkill’s dedication of the Silver Lake-Scotchtown tunnel, which was renamed the Disabled American Veterans Tunnel. New signs are displayed at the entrances to the tunnel, which runs under railroad tracks on Silver Lake Scotchtown Road at the intersection of Mud Mills Road.
