ONTEORA SCHOOL DISTRICT’S DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION INSPIRES NEW LEGISLATION TO ENSURE CHILDREN’S SAFETY

BONACIC: NEARLY $5 MILLION IN INCREASED LOCAL ROAD/BRIDGE AID HEADING TO REGION

Local governments across the State will see an increase averaging 20% in funding under the State’s Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement (CHIPS) program.   The total increase in the CHIPS program for the four counties of Senator Bonacic’s District (Delaware, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster), totals just under $5 million.

Senator Bonacic Discusses Bus Safety with Members of the New York Association for Pupil Transportation

On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, Senator Bonacic met with members of the New York Association for Pupil Transportation (NYAPT) from the district to discuss bus safety issues.  The group was in Albany promoting "stop arm cameras" which are used to catch drivers illegally passing school buses.  Senator Bonacic is pictured above, left to right, with John Higbie, Louise Stewart, and Pam Reyer.

SENATOR BONACIC ANNOUNCES THE SENATE PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION TO ENHANCE SAFETY IN SCHOOL ZONES

     Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced that the New York State Senate has passed legislation to enhance the safety of students and parents in school zones.

     The legislation (S3528) would enhance safety for students within a school zone by preventing drivers from making U turns within the posted hours that the school zone is in effect.
