Senator John Bonacic Attends National Night Out Against Crime in Port Jervis

Senator Bonacic attended the National Night Out Against Crime in Port Jervis.  The weather held out long enough for a great community turnout.  The message of the evening was to stand united in protecting our communities by reporting crimes to the police.  Residents were asked to keep their porch lights on last night in as a demonstration of unity in the fight against crime.  All around it was a great event.

Senator Bonacic Announces The Passage of Senate Bill 1885C Into Law - Calls for volunteer firefighter applicants to have background checks

Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I – Mount Hope) announces that Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today signed Senate Bill 1885-C sponsored by Senator Bonacic, which would require prospective volunteer firefighters to authorize a background check for sex offense convictions upon the submission of their application, into law.

Senator Bonacic Meets with Steven Kelly, President and CEO of Ellenville Regional Hospital

Senator Bonacic met recently with Steven Kelly, President and CEO of Ellenville Regional Hospital who outlined the details of the layout of the new Neil Calman MD, Medical Arts Pavilion, and the hospital's new expanded services. The Medical Arts Pavilion, scheduled to open in January, 2015, will be 7500 square feet in size, and cost $3.2 million dollars.

Senator Bonacic Advocates for Governor Cuomo to Sign S1885-C Into Law: Volunteer Firefighter Applicants Would Be Checked for Prior Sex Offenses

Senator Bonacic spoke at a press conference today at the Rock Hill Volunteer Fire Company advocating for the Governor to sign Senate Bill 1885-C into law.  This Bill would allow the fire chief to authorize a  background check on an applicant who wants to be a volunteer firefighter to see if there are any sex offense convictions.  The fire chief would have the authority to deny the submission should the applicant have prior sex offense convictions.

Senator Bonacic Meets with Sullivan County Officials and the DEC to Discuss Flood Damage from Recent Storms

On July 22, 2014, Senator Bonacic met with officials from the Sullivan County Towns of Delaware, Callicoon, and the Village of Jeffersonville, as well as representatives from the DEC to discuss flood damage from recent storms.  The discussions included asking Governor Cuomo to help fund repairs to county infrastructures, work with the DEC to conduct stream maintenance to minimize flooding; look into ways to be more prepared for these storms before they come, rather than after

Senator Bonacic presented NYS Senate Proclamations to new Eagle Scouts (l to r) Robert Matuszewski, III; Ben Grawi; Neil Penwarden; and Matthew Matuszewski from the Village of Florida's Boy Scout Troop 44 at their ceremony on Sunday, July 20, 2014.  Their Eagle Scout projects included the building of benches and picnic tables for Florida’s Walter Sturr Park and Glenmere Park, as well as cleaning up Glenmere’s talking trail, and  adding mile markers and a trail map.
